KM: Welcome to the show Rory! Shall we start by talking about how you came to find your human?

R: Her boyfriend found me in the ditch by her house. I almost went to a cat rescue, but the last week, I cuddled her 24/7 and she kept me!😸😻
 
KM: Yay! So glad she did! Describe a day in your life.

R: Usually starts with me singing the song of my people for breakfast. After that, a short cuddle session before mom leaves for what feels like forever. Finally she comes back to feed me and worship me the rest of the night.

KM: Sounds like you have her wrapped around your little paw! What is your most favourite kind of food?

R: I LOVE ALL FOOD! I really love peanut butter too!

KM: I have never had peanut butter…. Maybe I should try some! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

R: I have so many toys, but probably my west paw fuzzy caterpillar toy or my Jackson galaxy wand toy!

KM: Rory, you are known to wear some pretty fashionable clothing. You are, after all, a meowdel for Crazy Cat Lady Corner and several other clothing lines! Do you have a specific sense of style?

R: Everything looks good on me!😉

KM: Haha! They sure do! You wear them all so well! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

R: I don’t mind most dogs unless they are too pushy. I did eat my mom’s gerbil so don’t leave me unattended with the small furry toys.

KM: OMG! you ate her gerbil???? Oh no! I don’t know how to react to that!!! If you could make one wish, what would it be?

R: For every kitty to have a loving home and be treated like the royalty they are!

KM: I wish the same! What do you do to relax and chill out?

R: Cuddle time

KM: Do you have any special skills?

R: I do some tricks and I walk on a leash purrfectly.

KM: Oh you must show me some of those tricks sometimes! What do you value most in life?

R: Food and my mom.

KM: What is your opinion about social media?

R: I love making new friends and seeing all the magnificent cats in the world.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life? If so, please tell us a bit about them.

R: Nope, don’t have time with my meowdeling career.

KM: What? A handsome cat like you is single?? If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

R: Anywhere with all you can eat treats and lots of wand toys!

Cleaning Stainless Steel Pet Food Dishes

There is nothing more frustrating that trying to clean hot water and calcium buildup off any stainless steel products. It is even more annoying when that item is something your pet uses every and you try your best to keep it in drink-worthy condition!

Fear not pet lovers! I have found a safe and effective solution that is guaranteed to clean all stainless steel pet dishes safely and effectively. Not only does this ‘magic solution’ get rid of the hot water buildup, it also makes it shiny and beautiful 🙂

What is this magic solution you may ask?

………….VINEGAR!!!

Yes! Good ol’ white vinegar is all you need to keep those pesky buildups away for good.

As a pet blogger, I get asked numerous times about the best type of materials to use as pet food and water dishes. My first choice is always ceramic however if you can find a good quality stainless steel product and can commit to keeping it clean, it is also a good option. Plastic is a BIG NO NO!

You don’t necessarily have to go to the pet store to buy food bowls. I have found wonderful dishes at stores like Home Sense and Marshalls.

I would like to use those post to share with readers that it is not hard to keep your pet’s food dishes clean and safe. One of the first things you should do before you open that can of cat food is to give the dish a good scrub with hot water. You will be surprised as to how quickly bacteria can build up on dishes with old, leftover food sitting on it. Would you eat out of a plate that had yesterday’s food still stuck on it?

It is not just enough to feed your pet good quality food but it is even more important to pay attention to how you store that food and what you use to feed it on.

Ok, back to the stainless steel water bowl…… This particular bowl is the Pioneer Pet Stainless Steel Fountain Raindrop Design , 60oz. You can purchase it on Amazon (links below).

Here you can see the buildup that has already formed on top of this water fountain (the white stuff!!) One time, I had really crusty white buildup which required a lot of soaking in vinegar!

First you remove the filter and take apart the fountain (minus the wall plug in! – DO NOT PUT THAT IN WATER!). Next, fill the sink with hot water, add about 2 cups on plain white vinegar and soak all the pieces in it, including the plastic insert which holds the motor).

Ideally, you would let this soak for a few hours. The more you let is soak, the easier it is to scrub away the buildup. Once the soaking is done, take a scrubbie or washcloth and give it all the good scrub down. Use an old toothbrush and a Q-Tip to get into those hard to reach corners!

Once you have gotten all the gunk out and rinsed everything, drain out the vinegar water and fill up the sink again with cold water. Add everything back in and let it soak again. This is to ensure there is no left over vinegar lurking around. While household vinegar is not harmful to animals, they are not overly fond of the taste of it in their water!

Voila! Now you have a extra clean water fountain with no buildup, ready to be used! (extra bonus is that your sink gets a good clean too!)

PS: We are big fans of this water fountain as it circulates the water really well and Kitty Mojito drinks so much water now than before when she just had a water bowl.

Review – Katsville Kats Catnip Cat Toys

I had the pleasure of learning about Katsville Kats a few weeks ago via Instagram.

This is a Canadian company based in Maple Ridge, British Columbia and they focus on making catnip toys from upcycled denim, filled with organic and locally grown catnip.

Here is a bit about how Katsville Kats’ came to be from the owner, Cathy Chambers.

My family and I have always loved animals. We have a special affinity for cats. I have 3 cats who love to play. The cat kicker toys are especially popular amongst them. However, the toys from the store would be shredded in a day. An idea manifested in my head in wanting to combine my cats’ need for play and my desire to do something good for the environment.

I really love upcycling, recycling and looking after the environment. So I designed cat toys made with sturdy upcycled denim and filled with organically and locally grown dried catnip. My designs have been cat tested and cat approved!

Cathy was kind enough to send over some toys to be tested by our resident product tester, Kitty Mojito.

This is the Cat Kicker Toy. Immediately, I was very impressed by the size and the sturdiness of it. Kitty was able to bunny kick the life out of it and it held it’s shape really well. Of course, we had hours of play with the “danglies” at the end.

The next toy we tried out is called the ‘Bermuda Flannel Triangle’. It is definitely a good size for a triangle toy and is softer than the kicker toy. While it is too small for bunny kicks, it is great for throwing around and I think smaller cats will really enjoy kicking it about.

What I found most impressive about these toys is the fact that they are very well made. As you know, cats can be quite aggressive in their playtime and most store bought toys don’t survive the clawing, kicking and ripping that the toys are put through. The fact that it is made with upcycled denim (hooray for reusing products and saving them from heading to the landfills!) is a huge plus. I am all for supporting small businesses that go the extra mile by making sure their products are eco- friendly and/or use their platforms to make the world a better place in some way.

Of course, the most important feedback comes from the tester herself! As you can see, she wasted no time attacking the toy and ended up playing with it for a long time. She enjoys a lot of bunny kicking so this was perfect for her.

She was more drawn to the kicker toy than the triangle which I assume was due to the size of it.

I would definitely recommend these toys for anyone looking for quality catnip kickers for their feline friends. Don’t forget to leave me a comment and let me know what your cats favourite toys are!

Review – Petsfit Comfort Carrier Backpack

I am very excited to review this new backpack that I got for Kitty Mojito recently.

Kitty Mojito is adventurous and likes to spend time outdoors. Even though she walks on a leash, sometimes I need to put her in her carrier to transport her to various places such as the vet, pet shop or the park. A good carrier is a must have in any pet household!

As someone with neck and shoulder issues, the traditional carrier puts a lot of strain on my body. The carrying handle on regular carriers are usually fairly thin and when you add a 10 pound cat to the mix, it just really does some damage to my already delicate neck and shoulders. I have tried out many carriers and finally learnt about this Petsfit carrier from a friend who takes her very adventurous kitty on hikes and trails! (Thanks Jude!)

Let me first tell you about what the product description says on Amazon.

1. Thick padded straps makes it easier to carry.

2. Features mesh window for safety, ventilation and visibility, sturdy adjustable shoulder straps and comfort grip handle.

3. A waist strap and a chest strap make it easier to carry.

4. Removable and machine washable pad.

5. Front and top entrance.

6. Soft fleece mat is comfortable for pets.

As you can see from the pictures above, there are two flaps, one on top and one in the front. This keeps the air flowing through the carrier to keep your pet comfortable.

One of my favourite aspects of this carrier is the fact that it is really roomy inside. Kitty was able to comfortably move around and lay down inside. This is a really important thing to keep in mind as you want your pet to be able to move freely and not feel constricted.

You can also attach a harness inside the carrier for added safety. I made it extra comfortable by adding a small blanket on top of the fleece mat that comes with the carrier.

Now on to the real test….. many people who saw my posts and videos on Instagram asked me how comfortable it is to carry this around. Even though I was skeptical at first, I was really impressed by how easy it was to carry Kitty around in it. The padded shoulder straps were very comfortable and didn’t put any strain on me. The chest and waist strap kept the carrier from bouncing around on my back.


We took Kitty along some snowy trails and she really enjoyed chilling out inside the carrier when she wasn’t out walking around. I could tell she felt safe and cozy. Even though she meowed a little bit at the beginning, she got comfortable enough on our walk and eventually just stretched out and enjoyed the view 🙂

We spend a good hour or so walking around and I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t end up with a sore neck and shoulders!

To end this review, I give this carrier a big THUMBS UP! Not only is it a great option for everyone who has a pet who weighs less than 15 pounds, it is the only carrier I have found so far that doesn’t give me severe neck and shoulder pains after carrying it!

It is sturdy and provides great support. Most importantly, it is the most comfortable carrier for Kitty Mojito!

Katdid Konversation With Olivia

We have a wonderful guest here at Katdid Konversations today!

Say hello to a sweet and beautiful kitty from La Jolla California.. This is Olivia!

KM: It is so lovely to have you here with me, Olivia! We have become great friends so I am so excited to find out more about you! Can you tell me how you came to find your human?

O: My Meowmy came into the shelter one day after my dearly departed brother, Tyler passed over the 🌈  rainbow bridge. I was hiding in the back of my cage, on the top row of cages and as soon as Meowmy and I locked eyes, I crept Furward and she opened the cage and picked me up and I felt love and security that I had never felt beFUR.

KM: That is so wonderful! Describe a day in your life.

O: I sleep in Meowmy’s bed all night. We wake up and I get breakfast. Next, I walk around my home, looking for sun spots and then I take a nap. The rest of my day is spent resting and waiting for Meowmy to return. I look at the birds and hummingbirds outside. I also work  with my Pawtner Nugget at the Meow Matchmaking Service! We started this company together and are very proud to match kitties looking for l♥️ve with each other! We even made the cover of Forbes magazine! Please see our prior posts on Instagram! When Meowmy comes home, I must sit on her lap for awhile because I’ve missed her so much and I still suffer from abandonment issues. I get my dinner and play with Meowmy before bed.

KM: Sounds like you have your routine down to a T! What is your most favourite kind of food?

O: I’ve gotten very picky lately, so I’ll have to get back to you on that!

KM: Fair enough! I am fairly picky myself so I hear ya, sister! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

O: I do love my catnip toys that my friends in Europe sent me! I think they have special catnip there! 

KM: Hmm, they must! I got a gift from Germany and I love that toy so much! Do you have a specific sense of style?

O: As Coco Chanel said, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance”. Therefore, I believe in keeping my fur coat soft and conditioned and my only accessory is a collar with a jewel hanging from it. To date, I have 14 collars that I wear. I have my own jewelry box for them. They are insured by Lloyd’s of London.

KM: Oh you are such a stylish girl. You look beautiful in everything you wear! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

O: I absolutely love and treasure all of my Instagram furry friends, however in real life, I am not a fan. My time in the shelter scared me and it was so noisy! I never had any privacy. Besides we all know that dogs drool and cats RULE!

KM: Haha! Truer words were never spoken! If you could make one wish, what would it be?

O: I wish that all creatures were as lucky and blessed as I am.

KM: So Liv, when you are not running a business and being a style icon, what do you do to relax and chill out?

O: I get massages from Meowmy. I love being groomed and brushed. I also love cuddling with my BF Usko in front of the fireplace and watching Catflix.

KM: Yes, Catflix has some great programs for sure. Do you have any special skills?

O: Werking the 📷?

KM: Well, you are doing a great job! What do you value most in life?

O: ♥️ ….. Love is all you need!

KM: What is your opinion about social media?

O: I love that my Meowmy and I have made furry friends from all over the world! We are blessed to know that there are so many kind, beautiful 2 and 4 legged friends out there.

O: My Usko (@usko_the_cat on Instagram). He is the most wonderful BF ever! He is handsome, kind, loving and intelligent! He is my everything and my Furrever Valentine.

KM: You two are just so adorable and make the purrfect couple! If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

O: I enjoy just spending time with my Usko. We like to watch meowvies in front of the fireplace and sip 🐟🍸 (tunatinis) while snacking on 🍱 (sushi). We believe that time spent with loved ones is the meowst important thing.

KM: What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

O: I have already written my memoir and am now working on a story about the l♥️ve my Usko and I have for each other.  My Usko is so talented with his paws and is illustrating our book.

KM: That is so exciting! I can’t wait to read it! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

O: I would like to thank you for your furry friendship! You are a beautiful, furry friend on the outside and even more beautiful on the inside where it really matters. I believe that humans could learn a lot about how to treat each other from the way we interact on Instagram!  Us kitties are always supportive of one another, we celebrate our successes and share in our sadness. We invite everyone to our pawties and remember one another’s birthdays and Adoptoversaries.  Also, Adopt Don’t Shop! Let L♥️VE Rule!

Katdid Konversation With Harvey

Welcome to another great edition of Katdid Konversations!

I am your host, Kitty Mojito!

It is a cold and snowy Sunday here in the Canadian prairies and I am chatting with Harvey, a 2.5 year old kitty from Cleveland, Ohio!

KM: Thanks so much for joining me today, Harvey! Shall we start by talking about how you came to find your human?

H: My Mama fostered me when I came in as an injured kitten..3 weeks old…to the Cleveland Animal Protective League where she works.

KM: Can you describe a day in your life?

H: Most days, I’m playing with my brothers and sisters. We are all rescues. Mama saved us in one way or another. I have 9 ‘siblings’ ages 2 – 15. I love chasing my sister Grover the best. She’s fun. Occasionally, she hisses at me but most times she will chase me back. I love treats and before Mama goes to work and when she comes home, we all line up in the kitchen to get some. I was attacked by ‘something’ when I was a baby so I have half my left cheek missing. It makes for eating difficulties as food and water tend to fell out the hole in my face. But no matter what, Mama cleans it for me daily and even though I have ‘stink mouth’ as Mama calls it, she still loves me and makes sure I know it. 

KM: What a wonderful Mama you have! It is so lucky that she found you all! What is your most favourite kind of food?

H: I love Fancy Feast wet food. We all get a small amount for breakfast every morning. Catnip Temptations are my FAV treat!!

KM: OOh I love those treats too!! But I can’t eat much of them now due to my sensitive tummy! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

H: Hard decision because I love all toys….but I’d have to say I love catnip toys the best and the Yeowwww Catnip Bananas are Pawesome!! 

KM: Yes! I call it an iBanana and use it to call my furriends! Do you have a specific sense of style?

H: Style? I just move on in and take over, mostly when someone else is on Mama’s lap!!! I just crawl on over and lay as close to her as I can. I am a talker so when I want Mama’s attention, I just loudly ‘Meowwwww’ and she calls me!

KM: That is definitely interesting. I was thinking more of personal style as in clothes but your personality style definitely gets attention for sure! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

H: I’ve never lived with doggies…but I love playing with my kitty family. When Mama brings home other kittens to foster, I like playing with them too. Although, at times, I think they get too much of Mama’s attention!

KM: It is nice that you are so kind to your foster kitty family! I am sure they could use lots of love! If you could make one wish, what would it be?

H: I wish I had a full cheek on the left side of my face. It makes for some dental issues without having a ‘normal’ kitty face..and I always have to have Mama clean the ‘gunk’ off my cheek. It would be better if I could eat like other kitties. But Mama says she loves me just the way I am…and if I hadn’t been brought in with the injury, Mama might not have been there to foster me! So I guess it all happened for a reason.

KM: Your positivity is very inspiring, Harvey! Everything DOES happen for a reason! And I think you are just perfect just the way you are! What do you do to relax and chill out?

H: Whenever Mama sits on the couch, I jump up on her lap!  She is always so warm and I love cuddling up there with her.

KM: Do you have any special skills?

H: Yes, if you count eating and spitting it out all at the same time? LOL!

KM: I don’t see why that can’t be a skill!!! LOL! What do you value most in life?

H: My Mama. She takes such good care of me and my brothers and sisters. We are all very lucky kitties to be with her.

KM: Most definitely! She sounds like a lovely mama! What is your opinion about social media?

H: I love watching and keeping track of all the kitties around the world. It’s fun and I get to know how others live and meet lots of nice humans and their kitties.

KM: Very true! There are so many kitty friends out there! Do you have a special someone in your life? If so, please tell us a bit about them.

H: Of course…My Mama..silly! But if you mean other kitties, Yes!  Grover is the one I love the most. She is a bit younger than me and is a Selkirk Rex/Scottish Fold. She has a lot of curly black fur. When we play, I love chasing her and when I catch her, I nibble on her curly fur on her neck!! Mama says she doesn’t like it but she doesn’t run and always continues to chase me back.

KM: She sounds like a fun gal! If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

H: I would have a nice quiet dinner of Fancy Feast Grilled Chicken, some nice ice cold fresh water with ice cubes and then go curl up with Grover on a nice comfy blanket by the Electric Fireplace.

KM: Ooh! That sounds so cozy and romantic! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

H: I’d love to meet other kitties from around the world. I love rescue stories of others that have been saved by nice humans.

KM: Do you have anything else you would like to say?

H: I feel honored that you asked to interview me. I love my life with Mama although it does have a few complications. I’m so happy you love kitties too because that’s how Mama met you. She likes being on that Instagram and Facebook thing, meeting new people and showing pics of us. I think she is going to start her own page with just US on it!  I like that idea! I think we are all Purrfect!!

KM: It has been so much fun chatting with you Harvey! I am so glad your mama found you and gave you a wonderful life!

Katdid Konversation With Oliver

Today we are chatting with a handsome and dashing kitty from Bronx, New York. Please say hello to 3 year old Oliver!

KM: Thanks so much for joining me today, Oliver! It is so exciting to chat with you today. Shall we start by talking about how you found your human?

O: My human sister came across my siblings and I in a lot. I was cradling my sibling that had passed when she was finally able to get in and pick me up.

KM: Wow, what a way to be found! Describe a day in your life.

O: My day starts with breakfast, followed by some baby talk and cuddling. In the afternoon, I get in a good play time for about 15 minutes, then it’s lunch time followed by a nap. At 5pm-ish, I’m looking for my kibbles and a dog to chase. Then repeat for the rest of the night..(true story)!!

KM: Sounds like a pretty exciting day! What is your most favourite kind of food?

O: Chicken!!!!

KM: Haha! I love chicken too!! And tuna and salmon and shrimp……..! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

O: It would have to be one of my toys on a stick. I love the play time with Meowmy and the stick toy.

KM: Oliver, you are known to wear some super stylish outfits. Do you have a specific sense of style?

O: Yes! I love dressing up with bows and ties.

KM: Fantastic! You sure look very dapper in them! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

O: I grew up with dogs. They are fun to have chase you and then jump where they can’t and just taunt them 😹Other animals, I’m not too thrilled, unless its a fish.

KM: I had some fish once. I would watch them for hours and tried to reach into the tank on more than one occasion! LOL! If you could make one wish, what would it be?

O: For every homeless cat to have a warm place to call their own with a human to love them as much as I am loved.

O: I enjoy bird watching!

KM: Ooh that sounds like fun! Do you have any special skills?

O: I am trained to sit, stand on my hind legs and give meowmy my head when she asks for a kiss.

KM: Wow! So talented! What do you value most in life?

O: Besides that bank card I use to buy my treats, I’d say love. Love is misused, and when it’s real, it has to be valued. So I value the love I get every day.

KM: That is so true! What is your opinion about social media?

O: It’s fun. I’ve made some really awesome furry friends.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life? If so, please tell us a bit about them.

O: Don’t tell anyone, but my mom is my special someone. I have a girlfriend on IG but I flirt way too much to mention names 😹😹

KM: SHHHH! Your secret is safe with me! If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

O: I’d take meow lady to an all you can eat tuna bar with an open meowgarita bar. Then we will head out under the clear sky so we can bird watch as we sit on the grass, full from all the tuna.

KM: That is certainly tempting! I can already hear the ladies lining up to meet you!!! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

O: I would love to bring awareness to rescued cats. There is a bad misconception of what a “rescued” cat is capable of..as far as loving, compassion etc. Oh and I’d like to take over the world..lol

KM: Rescue cats are the greatest! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

O: Yes, thank you for the interview. Do I get treats now?

KM: You are most welcome! It was my pleasure! (hands over a giant bag of chicken treats!!)

Katdid Konversation With Finn And Ellaria

Welcome back to Katdid Konversations!! 

It’s a brand new year and we have some wonderful interviews lined up for you!

I am your host, Kitty Mojito!

We are starting off the 2018 line up with a wonderful couple from California!!

Please say hello to the most adorable QuiGon Finn (1 year and 5 months)  and Ellaria Zafrina Rey (9 months)!

KM: I am so excited to chat with you guys today! Let’s start by finding out how you came to find your human.

F: MY HUMON FOUND ME ON INSTAGRAM. THEY WERE GOING THROUGH THEIR FEED AND SAW A VIDEO ON @KITTEN.SMITTEN.RESCUE WHERE I WAS STANDING ON MY BED, IN MY CRATE SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS.

MY BROFUR LANDO SOLO HEARD ME AND CAME RUNNING FROM WHEREVER HE WAS CAUSING TROUBLE AND JUMPED ON THE HUMON’S LAP AND STARTED PAWING AT THE IPAD. LANDO WAS JUST A YEAR OLD AND LONELY BECAUSE THE OTHER CATS WOULDN’T PLAY OR INTERACT WITH HIM. LANDO WAS ALSO STARTING TO BECOME MORE PUG THAN CAT BECAUSE PAPA PUG WAS THE ONLY COMPANION HE HAD. SO THE HUMON LEFT A COMMENT ON KITTEN.SMITTEN’S PAGE ASKING IF ANYONE HAD PUT IN AN APPLICATION. THE HUMON DID NOT EXPECT A RAPID REPLY BUT THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY GOT. SHE TOLD MY HUMON THAT NO ONE HAD PUT IN A APPLICATION YET AND WHERE TO GO TO APPLY.

THE HUMON DID NOT HESITATE AND GOT THE APPLICATION IN RAPIDLY, THEN WAITED TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM. WHEN MY FOSTER MOTHER @KITTEN.SMITTEN POSTED THAT I WAS GOING BACK TO THE SHELTER TO BE FIXED AND THEN TO MY FOREVER HOME, THE HUMON WAS HAPPY BUT THOUGHT SOMEONE ELSE WAS APPROVED INSTEAD OF THEM.

The photo that caught the Humon’s attention about adopting FINN

A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE POST, THEY GOT A CALL FROM THE SHELTER SAYING THAT THEY HAD BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT ME AND THEY COULD COME PICK ME UP THE NEXT DAY. THE HUMON DROVE OVER THREE HOURS FROM FRESNO, CA TO SANTA BARBARA, CA TO COME AND GET ME. I WAS MADLY IN LOVE INSTANTLY AND SO WAS THE HUMON. ON THE CAR RIDE BACK, I SLEPT ON THEIR LAP AND PURRED MOST OF THE WAY.

WHEN WE GOT BACK TO THE HOUSE, THE HUMON HAD PLANNED TO SLOWLY INTRODUCE ME TO THE PRIDE BUT I HAD OTHER PLANS. I RAN STRAIGHT UP TO MY BROFUR LANDO AND PAPA PUG. THEY BOTH INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH ME AND ACCEPTED ME RIGHT AWAY. MASTER BUBBA CERSEI SKYWALKER WAS NOT SURE OF ME FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS. THEN SHE DECIDED THAT I WOULD BE HER APPRENTICE NOT LANDO’S. SHE TAUGHT ME HOW TO BE A STRONG AND INDEPENDENT CAT AND IN TURN, I TAUGHT MY BROTHER HOW TO BE A CAT INSTEAD OF A PUG. NOW I AM THE ONE WHO TEACHES THE FOSTER KITTENS HOW TO BE CATS.

Ellaria: I was a feral foster kitten that turned into a foster fail. The Humon got a call from a fellow rescuer one day on their way back from the shelter. Their friend had four feral kittens that they couldn’t even handle and knew that the Humon was already working with another group of feral kittens.

The Humon wasn’t sure at first if they could handle four more kittens but after their friend pleaded with them, the Humon decided to go ahead and take us. What the Humon didn’t know was that the house had been contaminated with the Panluke Virus. When we first arrived, we were very feral and the Vet said she wasn’t sure we could be converted to friendly. The Humon worked with us everyday little by little to gain our trust. It didn’t seem to be working. Then the first kitten from the other group of fosters got sick. Within a week, we were all infected with the virus and we required around the clock care and maintenance. This meant that we had to be handled regardless of how we felt about it and we definitely didn’t like it.

After a few weeks and the death of my twin sister Obara, I started to relax around the Humon and would constantly beg to be with one of the kittens from the other group who is named Ash Wren. She would beg just like me to be together. Finally, the Humon realized that four of us were so much healthier than the others and decided to put us healthy ones together and the sick ones together.

That’s when Ash Wren moved into mine and my brother Gendry’s crate and our brother Ramsay moved into Ash’s group. Ash likes the Humon a lot and was always asking to be held and play with the Humon and the big kitties. Finally, one day the Humon decided to try letting me out to play with Ash and Papa Pug. I love Papa Pug and would follow him around and let him clean me. One day, Finn got into our playpen and it was love at first sight. He was so handsome and strong and he instantly fell head over heels in love with me and I with him.

The Humon wasn’t planning on keeping me and they were already talking to people who were interested in adopting me. When the Humon saw how much I love Finn and how much he loves me, they knew that they could never separate us. We have been inseparable ever since. We are star crossed lovers who are meant to be together forever.

KM: Wow, what an amazing story! I am so happy that you both found each other! Describe a day in your life.

FINN: SLEEP, EAT, HUNT, GROOM MYSELF AND ELLARIA, REPEAT.

Ellaria: Snuggle with Finn, practice lots of Meowga, play with my SisFur Ash Wren, get in lap time with the Humon, then lots more snuggling with Finn.

KM: Sounds heavenly! What is your most favourite kind of food?

Both: Homemade Wet Cat Food, Temptation treats, and Traders Joe’s cat tuna.

KM:Ooh homemade wet food sounds interesting!! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be? 

Finn: A dead mouse

Ellaria: My SisFur Ash Wren

KM:Haha! You guys are so funny!! Do you have a specific sense of style? 

Finn: Other than a harness, the only bandanas I wear are from Crazy Cat Lady Corner!

Ellaria: Same

KM:Mama and I are so happy to hear that you love our bandanas!! You all look so great in them! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

Both: We love them especially Pugs.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

Both: It would be that the Humon can raise enough money to start their Sanctuary so that other kittens and cats can know what it’s like to be safe and loved.

KM: That is a wish we all have for your humon! I hope it comes true very soon! What do you do to relax and chill out? 

Both: Snuggle with each other, Papa Pug or the Humon.

KM: Do you have any special skills?

Finn: I’m an expert mouser

Ellaria: Starting in February I will be teaching a Meowga class at @bensonandbitsy studio called #lapmeowga.

KM: Fantastic! I don’t do a lot of meowga but I will definitely check out your class! What do you value most in life?

Both: Each other, our siblings,Papa Pug and the Humon

KM: What is your opinion about social media?

Finn: IT’S A GREAT PLACE TO SHOWCASE MY CHEEKY MONKEY BEHAVIOR.

Ellaria: Without social media, I wouldn’t be here with my Pride and I wouldn’t have a place to teach Meowga.

KM: And we wouldn’t have been furriends if we didn’t have social media!! Well, I already know the answer to the next question but I will ask it anyway. Tell us about your relationship!

Both: We are soulmates and you just have to check out our Instagram account @BS13INC to see everything about our relationship.

KM: If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

Both: Just being together is purrfect.

KM: Aww you lovebirds are so cute. How romantic is that! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

FINN: PURRFECT MY HUNTING SKILLS

Ellaria: Teach my first Meowga class.

Both: Adopt don’t shop and love can change your world if you let it.

Note from Humom: I always hear Finn’s voice as having a proper British accent and he always speaks in all caps. Ellaria is definitely more reserved and rather shy with a Valley girl accent.

Do You Have Any Plans For 2018?

A new beginning is so exciting! It is the perfect time to dust off those old goals that have been sitting on your brain for the past years and give it some new life!

As a serial planner, I love making new goals and giving it my best shot to accomplish them within the year. This year, I am doing things a bit different and focusing on one main aspect of my life. The goal for the year is to be a more effective financial planner.

For starters, I have gone back to work for the first few months of the year. This was not something that I was planning on doing as I wanted to focus on my business. However, life has a funny way for making you do things so I had to be responsible and take a full time job to be able to get my savings back on track. This does not mean I am not focusing on my business but it is making me think more strategically on how I want to use the time I have to devote towards it.

I am also taking on extra cat sitting clients which has been great. I love spending time with all cats and the fact that many people trust me with their homes and their beloved pets means so much to me.

So this year is going to be the year of taking a more responsible approach towards my finances, building up my cat sitting clientele and streamlining my business to be more effective!

It is going to be so awesome!

Happy New Year 2018!

Happy New Year everyone!!! I hope you all had a great New Years Eve ringing in the dawn of brand new beginnings with loved ones!

My hubby and I actually went out to a new year’s eve party! We usually stay in, order take out and watch movies but we were invited out by some great friends and it turned out to be a super fun night.

Looking back at 2017, I must say it was a pretty great year overall. I am not the type to dwell on things that didn’t got my way so I choose to look at the positive. Even though I lost a job in 2017, I gained the opportunity to work on my business, gather more cat sitting clients and spend more time doing things that I love. The lack of a steady paycheque was scary but with a supportive husband who was able to carry the weight of our living expenses, I was lucky enough to take that time to figure out what I wanted to do.

Kitty had a great year as well! She filmed a commercial for a brand new pet food company (waiting for the release soon!) and made many new friends and won several contests!

Overall, it was a great year which brought us good health, new opportunities and a lot of great friends!

For 2018, I am looking forward to working on my business. I will trying to streamline things a bit more as I will be returning to a full-time 3 month contract starting Jan 2. That will be keeping me busy for the first few months of the year. I will also be taking on more cat sitting clients as well as freelance writing assignments. The idea is to build a cash reserve so I can focus on the business once my contract is done.

It is also our 10 year wedding anniversary this year! We would love to be able to go on a small holiday to celebrate it! Considering we haven’t been on vacation since we got married in 2008, it would be a welcome getaway.

I am hopeful it will be a great new year filled with wonderful possibilities and opportunities to make our dreams come true!
