Summer is one of my favourite seasons! When the skies are blue, the sun is out and the breeze makes the temperature just right, it brings me so much joy!
Kitty loves to be outside so this is the perfect opportunity to explore our neighbourhood and take her out on some adventures. And if you live in the Prairies, you have to take advantage of this weather as it doesn’t last long!
A week ago, Kitty took a morning stroll up to one of the many ponds in our neighbourhood. Here are some of the highlights!
We left home around 8am and hopped into the elevator to make our way out to the trail!
One of the great things about our neighbourhood is that there are so many wonderful trails with great ponds and water features.
Kitty really enjoys being inside the stroller as opposed to being carried in her backpack because the stroller allows her to move around a bit more freely and she has a 360 degree view of everything.
The closest trail is about a 5 minute walk from our home and along the way she likes to listen to the birds chirp and watch cars drive by. I usually take her through the back alleys in order to avoid the traffic on the main road.
We got to the pond in about 5 minutes and we sat on the bench, waiting to see if any ducks or geese come by.
We saw some geese just chilling out on the grass! (PS I couldn’t get a photo but if you watch the YouTube video, you can see it). Of course, we keep our distance and give them space. Kitty loves to listen to the sounds of the ducks and the geese. She is usually quite calm as we sit and enjoy nature.
It is important to state that I do not let her out of the stroller because the trails can get busy with people walking their dogs. Safety is key!
On our walk back home, we stopped to smell the beautiful flowers that have bloomed in vibrant colours. Her curious mind was going a mile a minute as she took in everything that was happening around her!
This was Kitty’s first real outing of the season and we hope to take many more adventures before this beautiful weather comes to an end.
