Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Thanksgiving! It is the perfect kickoff to the upcoming holiday season!

However, unlike most people, I am the least stressed when it comes to thanksgiving dinner. Why you ask? It’s because I am a planner 🙂

I try to keep it super simple so it gives everyone more time to socialize!

Let me run you through a few things I do when I am prepping thanksgiving dinner for 2 or for 6!

  • The first thing I do is make a meal plan. This makes life so much easier when it comes to grocery shopping! Once I have my menu set out, I will make my grocery list. A simple tip to keep in mind is to stick to the basics. This is not the time to try out fancy recipes (unless you want to!)

My menu usually includes a protein (turkey, beef, chicken whatever!), some vegetable sides (salad, yams, potatoes, carrots, beans etc etc) and a nibbler. A nibbler could be something as simple as some fresh bread, buns or a fruit and cheese platter. See how easy that is?

This year it was just me and my husband. So we did a beef roast and mini potatoes in the slow cooker and had it with some steamed vegetables. It was delicious

  •   Another thing that helps with keeping entertaining stress free is to pull out all your serving dishes, plates, cutlery, glasses etc the night before. Wash, dry and set it all out on your table. This way, you are not running around looking for a steak knife at the very last minute!

I find a buffet style is so much more easier than doing individual place settings and gives it a more casual and homey feel.

  • Drinks and dessert – No meal is complete without them! One of my favourite items is a large dispenser as shown below. I like to fill it up with juice, water and add fresh fruit to it. You can set your glasses next to it so your guests can help themselves. For those who prefer a boozy drink, set up some shooters next to the dispenser so that they can add it to their fruit cocktail! Same goes for dessert.

If you are anything like my family, once the meal is all done and everyone has filled their bellies with all the deliciousness that was offered, it is time to relax! Have a board game or some sort of after dinner activity ready.  We usually play dice and it is a lot of fun! This is a great time to chat and just be thankful to be around people that you love.

So there it is.  You have just hosted a stress free thanksgiving dinner! Congrats!

For me, this is one of the few times in the year that I actually run my dishwasher lol. So once all the guests leave, I start cleaning and tiding up. I cannot rest until my home returns to it’s previous state! So once all the dishes are done and the place is tidied up, I make myself a cup of tea, put my feet up and chill!

I Was Interviewed!

Pet Insurance – Yay or Nay?

I have been wanting to write about this for a while now…

Since I am on social media quite often on a daily basis, I can’t help but notice all the requests for help for pets who are ill or injured. It breaks my heart to see that money is sometimes the only thing keeping some people from getting the life saving treatments needed for their pets. They try their best but who has thousands of dollars laying around on a whim? Some treatments costs several thousands over a long period of time and this cost is not bearable for many people.

This got me thinking about insurance. I am a big believer in the preparing for emergencies. And since both myself and my husband have life insurance and critical illness insurance, why would I not look into the same thing for Kitty?

As soon as we adopted Kitty 4 years ago, the first thing we did was get insurance. She was a year old and the premium cost was around $30 a month. Sure, that was affordable and it covered a lot of ailments and injuries with the exception of any pre-existing conditions. We decided to pick Trupanion due to the previous mentioned reasons and also for the fact that they didn’t put a limit on how many times you can make a claim for the same condition and covered 90%.

Fast forward a few years……

Kitty is 5 years old now and although we never had to use insurance (knock on wood!), her premiums are now at $63 a month. Many people have asked me why I am paying so much for pet insurance. They ask me why I don’t just save that monthly $63 in a savings account for Kitty.

I will tell you why ….

  1. If I saved $63 a month for a year, I will have $756. If you know how much vet’s charge, this will certainly not be enough to cover tests, xrays, medication, vet fees.
  2. If, god forbid, Kitty has an accident and requires surgery or any extensive treatments, I will not have enough cash to cover things upfront if I didn’t have insurance.
  3. The $63 is a price I will gladly pay for my peace of mind knowing that if something were to happen, I will not have to compromise on getting her the treatments she needs. Her well-being is worth far more to me.

To anyone who is still not sure about getting insurance, I say please do some research and get the coverage that works for your pet. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

  • Take time to do some comparisons of insurance companies. Don’t always go for the cheapest option. See what is and what is not covered.
  • Try to get insurance when the pet is young. Like human insurance policies, the earlier you purchase it, the most affordable the premiums are.
  • Don’t be put off by the premium cost. If your pet is 8 years old and the online insurance quote is $80, give them a call. They will be able to work with you to get the best coverage needed.

So, in conclusion, I would like to say that I am all for pet insurance. You can make it work for you. Even though it might seem a lot and you may not think it’s worth it, I say it is TOTALLY worth it! I have never had to use it and if I had to do it all over again, I would still pick having insurance over having none!

KM: Thanks so much for joining me today Tazz. First, I would like to welcome you to the COI family! It is so exciting that you have now found your forever home! So let’s talk about how you came to find your human?  

T: My previous person asked Meowmee to take care of me while she recovered from an accident. Then she decided I was happier with Meowmee and let me stay.

KM: Wow, that’s so great that you got to stay! I am thrilled for you. Describe a day in your life. 
T: Well, I wake up early, about sunrise, stretch a lot, demand my breakfast, take a short nap, have some Temptation treaties, watch birds, bunnies and deer out the window, enjoy the sunshine, sleep, have dinner, play on and off at different times, yowl at 3 am and sleep.

KM: Ha ha! You have your routine down to a T! Well done! I wish I was that disciplined! What do you REALLY think of your human?

T: My Meowmee is the best, considering she tries very hard to make me happy.  I do like to keep her on her toes about my food though.  A guy gets bored with the same thing.  I would have to say yes, I love her.

KM: Aww, you are so sweet. Your Meowmee is such a kind and wonderful lady! We all love her! What is your most favourite kind of food? 

T: At the moment, I like Call of the Wild salmon and trout flavor as well as the Temptations Catnip Treats.

KM: Good choices! Have you tried Weruva BFF? It is so delicious! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

T: My Miss Mousey! She has soft fluffy hair and is purrfect to wrestle, bunny kick, bat and carry in my mouth.

KM: How would you describe your sense of style?

T: For style, I am just feeling that I need to just be for now as I am new to IG.  But I would say hip, sophisticated and trendy.

KM: In time, you will develop your own sense of style 🙂 You already look pretty dashing in the pawty circuits! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

T: I haven’t really been around a lot of dogs. I would say they’re OK.  Other cats a definite yes, I want a brofur or 2 and a sisfur.

KM: I think your Meowmee will definitely be listening to that request! Fingers crossed for you my furriend! If you could make one wish, what would it be?

T: My wish would be to meet all my IG friends for real one day.

KM: Wouldn’t that be just amazing? Now Tazz, do you have any special skills?

T: My ultimate skill is carrying Miss Mousie in my mouth and yowling at the same time.

KM: That’s is quite impressive! What do you value most in life?

T: I would say food, then naps.  But Meowmee is in charge of the food so I guess it would be her, Miss Mousey is a close 2nd.

KM: How do you feel to be part of this new family?

T: I am so happy! I didn’t know how good life could be.

KM: I think the best feeling in the world is to know that you are loved by wonderful people! Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?

T: I like meeting new cats and their people, getting to express myself and being creative.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

T: Yes! Actually, as of this week, Lilly (who is the Sisfur of Cobalt) is my new girlfriend.  She is a beautiful seal point Siamese with the most amazing blue eyes.  She is actually my first ever girlfriend.

KM: Wow! Congratulations! I don’t know Lilly but I know Cobalt! You two make the most adorable couple! If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

T: Well I like to think I am romantic.  I would pick Lilly up and take her to a private dining room. After a delicious dinner, we could dance to beautiful music and spend the evening in each other’s arms.  Of course, I would buy her a beautiful gown, flowers and a blue sapphire necklace to match her eyes.

KM: Ah you are a romantic soul! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

T: I want to see where things go with Lilly. I just joined her band, the PURR TONES, so I will see how that goes. Most importantly, I want to learn all there is to know about Derp Spays.

KM: I think Little Franklin will teach you all about Derp Spays! He is a great leader! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

Katdid Konversation with Jude

Hi everypawdy! Welcome back to Katdid Konversations! 

I am your host, Kitty Mojito!

After a week off to rest, I am back with a great guest!

Please say hello to Jude from Sturgeon, Missouri… a gentleman of many talents!

KM: Thank you so much for joining me today Jude! Let’s start by learning a bit about how you came to find your human?

J: My hudad rescued me on a rainy Saturday in July. I was living in a old U-haul trailer with my siblings and cat mom, fairly close to my pawents property. Hudad had one of my nieces on the fourwheeler with him. They saw me out in the rain, picked me up, saw that I was sick and took me to what is now, home. They bathed and fed me, then took me to the vet later that week. They say that I was pretty pathetic. Eyes matted with green drainage, shivering, dirty, sick and very hungry.

KM: Oh my! I am so glad they found you when they did! Now that you have found your forever home, describe a day in your life.

J: My fun begins at 3.00 – 3.30am. This is when Misha and I chase each other around the house, down the hallway to the humans’ room and across their beds! At times, even on their heads! After we get bored, Misha usually goes back to sleep in the bedroom closet while I continue to play. I play with my bouncy tail ball or another small ball. I bat it around on my humans’ bed because they enjoy tossing it off the bed and then I retrieve it! My hudad’s alarm goes off at 6.30am. This is my signal to go snuggle with him until he gets up. Then I wait in the bathroom sink while he showers. I help him shave and entertain him while he gets dressed. He gives us treats before he heads off to work. When meowmy wakes up, the fun starts all over. She takes me out on an early walk. It will be a long walk at our favourite park or a short walk on our property. After we return home, I take a break and nap for a few hours. We play several times a day. When hudad gets home, we play with him while meowmy cooks. It’s treat time before the humans go to bed. All four of us play before they sleep. Misha gets comfy on hudad’s pillow while I get comfy on meowmy’s legs. Lights out!

KM: What do you REALLY think of your humans?

J: They’re great! Best servants ever. However, if I had to point out their flaws, they would be:

* Meowmy needs to pay more attention to my social life. Lately she’s been preoccupied by minis, causing me to miss out on pawties and other fun stuff.

* Not enough outdoor time.

Other than that, it’s all good

KM: Oh I’m sure your meowmy will take note of those things. We have to keep them on their toes constantly don’t we? If not, nothing will get done!! What is your most favourite kind of food?

J: YOGURT! I absolutely love plain, low fat Greek yogurt. I get a little everyday when meowmy makes her smoothies.

KM: You know something… I have never tried this ‘yooogurt’ you speak of. I must tell Mama to buy some immediately.  If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

J: BOUNCYTAILS!

KM: Excellent choice! Thanks to you and your meowmy, I got to play with bouncy tails too!! It is sooo much fun! Now you are known to be quite a stylish dude. How would you describe your sense of style?

J: Hmm… Hip and casual. I dig my shades, a nice bowtie or a cool bandana when I’m out and about hiking.

KM: Oh yes! You sure look cool in those accessories you wear! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

J: Dogs hmm, well, I’ve been around a couple and they were completely opposite of each other. One was hyper and the other didn’t even care that I was around – pretty nice.  I liked her.

I would say every species has a unique quality about them. Different in appearances, thoughts and personality but all have a need to be loved.

KM: That’s deep dude… You are an old soul trapped in a young body! If you could make one wish, what would it be?

J: PEACE!

KM: Do you have any special skills?

J: I am a great alarm clock.  I can catch, fetch, bat a ball back to my human and have a need to protect my home by securing the purrimeters of our property. That’s a must!  I enjoy protecting my family and furfriends.

KM: Ah yes! You do take that role very seriously. It is why you hold that super important position in the DerpCabnet! What do you value most in life?

J: Family and friends

KM: You are so sweet Jude! Ok….Considering the political climate today, how do you feel about more cats getting into politics and making the world kinder?

J: I think it’s great! We need more of it. This world would be a better place if we all got together to spread peace, love and tolerance.

KM: That’s a great message! Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?

J: I love meeting cats from all across the globe and enjoy sharing a tiny part of their life. I think its great to get to know one another and support each other. On the negative side, it’s time. I’d love to have more time to spend on it because I really dig my furfriends.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

J: My special someone is a very sweet cat named Forrest (IG:@forrestkitten). I enjoy going out with her when we can❤

KM: How adorable! Forrest is a cutie! If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

J: Probably a nice walk/ hike. A picnic in a beautiful meadow, then star gaze and chase lightening bugs. It may not be fancy but it’s quality time and that’s what makes it great.

KM: You are a romantic! I bet Forrest will enjoy that very much! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

J: Become the best SSA for Mr. Derpurrez and…well…let’s just say that I have some things in the works in the very near future.

J: I’d like to thank all my furfriends for always being so incredibly ameowzing! They always say the nicest things and I appreciate them all and sincerely care about each of them.

Katdid Konversation with Roger, Jimmy & Lottie

KM: Hi guys! Welcome to the show! Thanks so much for being here today! Let’s start by talking about how you all found your human. Tell me your stories.

R: I was a street cat, then took in by an abusive household. I was rescued and Mommy and Daddy fostered me. Their current furbaby, Ebby was dying and they fostered me to help them cope with their grief. I was a foster fail and they couldn’t give me up!

J: Mommy decided Roger needed a playmate. Mommy and Daddy saw me on a rescue page and as I looked like Roggie, they thought it must be fate! Mommy came and picked me up. I was 16 weeks old. Turns out Roger didn’t like me very much!

L: Mommy had lost two girl cats in two years and felt overrun with men in the house with Daddy, Jimmy and Roger and wanted a little girl. Mommy saw me on a rescue site and came to meet me. She loved me from first sight and I came home with Mommy when I was 18 weeks. I’m one now, two in September.

KM: What lovely stories guys! I am so glad you all found each other and your awesome pawrents! Describe a day in your life.

R: I’m lazy. I had a tough life on the street so I enjoy a few home comforts. I love to lay on top of the cat tree. The little ones can’t get me up there. I like to chill in the sun, roll on my back with my paws in the air. No one is allowed to tickle my tummy though or you may lose a finger. I love a snack. I tend to graze throughout the day and if they are a bit slow putting my bowl down, I give them a nudge by howling with my head in the air.

J: I love to run round at a hundred miles an hour, jump on and off the beds, the sofa and sprint in and out of each room. It keeps me fit. Vet said I’m a bit overweight so I find it helps. I love to play chase with birdie and I like to bite and chase my sister too. Most of the day, you will find me sleeping on Mommy or my blankey or sitting by the window bird watching. I chat to them but sadly they don’t chat back.

L: I love bird watching! It’s my favourite pastime. I chat very loudly to them. I want them to be my friends. I also love to play! Tunnels are my favourite. I have 3 tunnels and a cube and can usually be found in one of them. I love treats and know where they are kept. So I often sit, climb or claw the treat cupboard!  After all that, a nap is in order!

KM: Sounds like a super fun household! What do you all REALLY think of your human?

R: I love the humans. Mommy says I’m a big softie. Daddy is my favourite human. I love to lay on his chest. He has a big broad chest so plenty of room for me as I’m a big cat. I fall off Mommy’s lap as she’s too small! I like her though, she feeds me and kisses me. I don’t really like kisses but she feeds me so I have to be nice to her. I always know when Daddy is on his way back from work. I wait by the window for him and I speak to him when he comes in. I get excited even though I’m getting older in years!

J: I love my Mommy! She’s the best! I just love her so much! I can’t bear to be without her. I go everywhere with her, bath, toilet, kitchen, living room, you name it. I love Daddy too. I give equal amounts of kisses to both. I love giving kisses and I need lots of kisses too. If they don’t kiss me or love me, then I go and fetch duck and cry and walk round with him in my mouth. You can usually find me attached to Mommy.

L: Humans are ok. I like them but I’m my own person. I have recently started climbing into bed with Mommy when Daddy goes to work. I only stay a little while. It’s nice and warm and she seems so happy. I might do it regularly or I might not. We will see how it goes. Mommy feeds me and gives me treats so I like her. I let Daddy fuss me but not for too long. There’s always something else I could be doing! Things to do, people to see!

KM: Haha! You guys are so funny! I love all the little habits that you all have! What is your most favourite kind of food?

R: I love ham! Oh how I love ham! I cry, scream and jump at the fridge. I know ham is in there! Tuna is OK, don’t mind tuna. I like a bit of chicken and turkey occasionally. To be fair, I’d eat anything but ham is my love!

J: We all eat dry food and have since I was a kitten. I’m not that keen on human food but I love treats! If Mommy has tuna, I have to have some. I like a bit of tuna!
L: I love food! Just food in general! I love treats especially these cheese and ham ones my Mommy got just for me. I like tuna and salmon too but I love treats, any treats in any shape or form!

KM: If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

R: I don’t do toys. I like to sleep. I’m getting old! There is a catnip thing that looks like a bit of wood, that’s ok and I’ll rub on it but nah! Toys are for babies.

J: I love duck! He’s the best! He goes everywhere with me. He got lost once and I cried and sulked for 24 hours. Luckily, Mommy found him and I  was ok again. Mommy said to Daddy “What are we going to do when duck falls apart?”. It will be the end of the world!

L: I like Birdie. He’s on a pole and I like to catch it and chew it. I always catch it! He don’t stand a chance. I’m a fierce hunter. I play with Jimmy and birdie but he’s too slow. I always get there first. He sulks a lot when he loses!

KM: Do you guys like to dress up? If you do, how would you describe your sense of style?

R: I’m a relaxed kinda guy. I don’t wear clothes of any type! Try to make me at your peril. You will find me upside down with my feet in the air a lot of the time relaxing. However, I permanently wear a tux so it does not suit my style.

J: I’m disheveled!  My fur is always sticking up and I look like I’ve been somewhere I shouldn’t. I tend to be covered in floof and grit! I’ve never worn clothes but if Mommy put them on me I’d probably pull them off in seconds. Like Roggie, I permanently wear a tux but it isn’t really me.

L: I’m told I’m pretty every day. I think I’m elegant and pretty. I’m a proper girl. I’m fluffy and very stylish. I’ve never worn clothes or accessories but Mommy might try me in a pretty pink collar or bandana. I think I’d look beautiful.

KM: I think all of you will look lovely in some bandanas or bowties. Lottie, you must tell your mommy to check out the bandanas in my Mama’s store CrazyCatLadyCorner! You will love it! OK, what are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

R: HATE THEM! I had to get used to these two idiots and that was bad enough!

J: I’d like to say hello, possibly? I’m not sure….

L: Take em or leave em!

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

R: If I had a wish, I’d make Jimmy and Lottie disappear!

J: If I had a wish, I would make a new home with a garden so we can go outside and chat with the birds.

L: Same as Jimmy! We want to move away from the busy road and go outside and explore. Plus a life supply of treats and to make Jimmy stop biting me! Sorry that’s 3! Whoops!


KM: Roger! I think you will miss Jimmy and Lottie if they were not around! I hope you get you wish for a new home soon! Do you have any special skills?

R: I have survival skills! I lived on the street for a number of years. I do not need them anymore though, I am waited on hand and foot!

J: I can run really fast! I can make it from the bathroom to the kitchen in 2 seconds!

L: I am the fastest eater in the west! I eat all mine and then get to Jimmy’s or Roger’s and eat theirs too before Mommy notices! I am also very good at catching my crinkly ball by standing up on my back feet and catching it in my front paws. Mommy says I’m so clever!


KM: Those are some very impressive skills! What do you value most in life?

R: FOOD!

KM: Let’s talk politics! Considering the political climate today, how do you feel about more cats getting into politics and making the world kinder?

R: I think we would all get on better in single cat households. One cat per house would be a great policy. I would get so much more sleeping done. Life would be bliss!

J: I think kisses should be mandatory, we need a kissing policy. I need regular head and nose kisses.

L: Sooty Paws recently stood for Pawminister! He is doing a wonderful job and has a number of great policies. He appointed me as Peacemaker Minister as I have to sort out Jimmy and Roger on a regular basis.
 
KM: All very interesting policies guys! Are you sure you wouldn’t want to run for office? Lottie, I will look up Sooty Paws! Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?

R: We have made loads of furrfriends on Insta. Mommy loves it, all the Mommies chat. I can take it or leave it to be honest. A lot of the human Mommies seem to like my tuxedo and pink nose and want to kiss and cuddle me. I might quite like that now and then but I do like a quiet life.

J: I love all our furrfriends. They are so cute and they do so many interesting things. I sit on Mommy’s lap and watch all the videos. I love them all!

L: I love all our furrfrriends too. They make me smile and tell me how lovely I am. They make me feel special and pretty. We have so many pretty and handsome furrfriends. I love to see them all. Mommy recently played matchmaker and paired 25 couples for the #petprom2017! She loved it and our furrfriends loved it too. We all had a great time at the prom. Me and Jimmy love all the pawties we go to.

KM: That is awesome! PetProm2017 was so much fun! Do you have a special someone in your life?

R: I took the beautiful Ally to the prom. She is very pretty. I like her. I am getting on now though and not sure anyone would have me! Plus I am set in my ways.

J: I love my Duck and Mommy! Not sure there is room or anyone else. I did take Willow June to the Prom and she is very pretty but her Daddy says she too little to have a boyfriend.

L: I went to the prom with Sooty Paws. He is a lovely, shiny black panfur and very handsome. He is currently away on holiday at the moment but has promised me a gift when he comes back. We might start going on dates. I am hoping he will ask me. Daddy said I’m too little as I’m not yet 2 but we will see.

 
KM: I think anyone will be lucky to date you guys! You are all so much fun! If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

R: As long as it involved food I would be there! Obviously there would be a young lady too and a nice moonlit walk, paw in paw, a nice meal and a nap would be just lovely.

J: Can I take Mommy? and Duck?

L: I would like to go somewhere sophisticated like afternoon tea at the Ritz, with tuna sandwiches and tunatinis. I could wear a pretty pink dress. Perhaps Sooty Paws could take me?

KM: That sounds wonderful Roger and Lottie! Ummm.. Jimmy… you can’t take your Mommy on your date… (Whispers to Roger: “You better have a talk with this boy!)  
What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

R: I would like to finish my nap, finish my dinner and then we shall see what follows. 

J: I would like to improve my sprinting time, get the bathroom to kitchen sprint down to a second and half. I’m in training.

L: I would like to bring out my own cosmetics and beauty range. I am thinking of calling it Lottie Loves. It would contain floof volumiser, shine oil, nose balm and cracked paw cream.

KM: I think you will all do amazing in accomplishing your future goals! Lottie, I look forward to your beauty line! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

Today I am talking to a fabulous foursome… Some hunky gentlecats!

KM: Thanks so much for joining me today guys! I would like to know a bit about the history of each of you. How did you all come to find your humans?

Joey: I was in this horrible shelter. I had been given up twice. When I saw my future meowmy walk by my cage, I flipped over on to my back and rolled around. Meowmy and dad fell in love with me and felt so bad because someone had declawed me in all 4 paws!

Tux: Meowmy and dad wanted to get a little baby sibling for Joey to take care of so they came over to the house where I was being fostered. They loved my tuxedo fur! When meowmy picked me up and held me like a baby, I gave her an immediate kiss on the lips. They also saw me hanging around all my brothers and sisters and I was so selfish with the wet food I would bash them all on their heads with my paw so I could have all the food to myself. They had to have me!

Marvin: I had been living on the streets and I was extremely malnourished and stressed with all my fur falling out. I only weighed 7 pounds and was 2 years old. Meowmy saw a picture of me on a shelter website and told dad to go to the shelter and look at me and a bunch of other cats. When dad met me he realized I was such a sick and poor boy and felt like I really needed a good home. When he brought me home and meowmy saw me for the first time she started crying because of how sad I was. I feel much better now. I weigh about 12 pounds and my fur grew in so thick that meowmy and dad have to give me lion cuts to keep it under control.

Bob: Meowmy got kitten fever one night. Dad had already put his foot down and said NO MORE CATS. Meowmy begged and pleaded and even started crying from the thought of so many cats needing homes. Dad finally gave in! they drove all over town looking for the kitten of their dreams. They found me at Petco and dad picked me out because I had the cutest little tummy that looked like a gray leopard pattern. They took me home to be with my new brothers and I am so happy!

KM: Those are some amazing stories guys! You are all so lucky to have found your pawrents! Describe a day in your life.

Joey: Dad usually gets up early for work and feeds us, but if it is the weekend and he is sleeping in, I (Joey) like to walk all over mom with my toothpick legs and meow until she gets up and feeds us. While meowmy and dad are at work, we sleep and cuddle all day. Then, when they come home, we meow for food.When meowmy and dad are home, I like to sit on their laps and I also like to be held like a teddy bear when they are in bed at night. My brother Tux loves to roll around on the floor and play with catnip toys and shoes. He also like to claw the stairs, which dad hates. Then, at night, Tux likes to snuggle up behind meowmy’s head. My brother Marvin is a very chirpy boy. He walks around the house meowing all the time, and also gets very excited for fresh water. He also likes playing with Tux a little too much. He will chase Tux around until Tux begs him to stop. Bob is the baby of the house so he is always doing baby things. He loves snuggling his brothers and loves it when meowmy holds him like a baby and gives him kisses on the lips.

KM: That is just too cute! You guys must have lots of fun times at home! Now what do you REALLY think of your human?

Joey: We love meowmy so much! She is very weird though and gets crazy-obsessed with us. She is constantly talking to us in a really high pitched voice and gives us constant hugs and kisses. Dad is pretty cool too, but I must say that me (Joey), Tux, and Bob are all mama’s boys to the core. Marvin is kind of a daddy’s boy though. We think it is because dad took him out of that horrible shelter.

KM: That is very sweet. There is nothing wrong with being a mama’s boy or a daddy’s boy. I’m sure they love you all the same 🙂 What is your most favourite kind of food?

Joey: I LOVE carbs. If there is bread around, I would pick that above anything else. I especially love donuts and goldfish. The other boys love fancy feast the most.

KM: If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

Joey: I would definitely have to go with good ol’ string! You can’t beat classic string.

Tux: Those little mice that come in white, black, and gray. I love carrying them around everywhere and putting them inside shoes and meowmy’s purse.

Marvin: I really like to bite the legs of tables and chairs.

KM: All really good options! Marvin, you have …umm… strange.. taste in toys LOL! How would you describe your sense of style?

Joey: Debonair and aloof

Tux: I like to wear my cute tuxedo all the time. It makes me feel fancy!

Marvin: I am a mangy cat turned handsome beast!

Bob: I like to think I have tough guy style but all my brothers say I’m just a little baby.

KM: I must say you all look really dashing. I bet all the lady cats reading this interview will be swooning over you all! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

We are all a little scared of dogs, except for Tux. He wants to be friends with everyone. We haven’t ever hung out with any other animals but we like to scare the birds away that come to our bird feeder.

KM: High five Tux! I like to be friends with dogs too!! If you all could make one wish, what would it be?

All of us can agree that we would wish that every cat in the whole world could have as loving a home as we have. It makes us very sad that there are lots of homeless and mistreated cats out there.

KM: Oh definitely! One day maybe that wish can come true. All humans must adopt, NOT SHOP! Do you have any special skills?

We are all pretty good at getting to the window within 1 second if a bird shows up to the bird feeder. Also, making humans fall in love with us and do whatever we say. We can make meowmy stop whatever she is doing, no matter how important, to give us pets and hugs.

KM: That is an amazing skill! It’s almost magic! What do you all value most in life?

Family! We love that we can be surrounded by brothers to snuggle and play with and have a meowmy and dad who are both crazy about us.

KM: That is so true guys! There is nothing better than being around the people that love you the most! Ok, let’s switch gears! Considering the political climate today, how do you feel about more cats getting into politics and making the world kinder?

We would certainly like the world to be a kinder place, but we are tired of politics! If only everyone could just be happy.

KM: Well, not sure if that will happen in our lifetime! On a happier note, Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?

We love Instagram! Meowmy watches our Instagram account for us and posts pictures of us. We love it when we can make other cat friends. We especially love when our new cats friends give our photos hearts and comments. There is one thing that we don’t like though; we can’t stand it when some of those cats follow and then unfollow. We are on Instagram to have real cat friends!

KM: That does get frustrating for sure. I personally don’t pay much attention to that! Ok let’s talk about love. Do you guys have any special someone in your life?

All of us boys are single and ready to mingle. Marvin has a huge crush on our cat friend Snowbell on Instagram.

KM: Hear that, Snowbell! Marvin wants to as you out!! (Hope she sees this!) If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

Joey: It would start off with some donuts and cake. Then my date would let me lick her head and we would cuddle up for the night.

Tux: We would share a can of cat food and my date would let me rub my head against hers. This is how I show another cat I care for them.

Marvin: My date would let me chase her around and once we were both too tired to play anymore, we would snuggle up.

KM: Oh boy! That sounds heavenly! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

If only we could catch one of those birds we keep seeing out the window. We really think that would complete our lives!

KM: I feel the same! I have never caught a bird before. I don’t think Mama will let me hurt one though! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

We hope to make many more lasting furriendships with other cats. We also looooooooove to be told what handsome boys we are, so bring on the compliments!

Katdid Konversation with Pebbles, Sparrow and Peanut!

My guests today are three amazing kitties from Miami, Florida!
Please welcome  Sparrow, Peanut, and Pebbles!

KM: I am thrilled to chat with you guys today!! Thanks so much for joining me! So let’s start by talking about how you came to find your human?

PSP: We were all adopted through Smitten with Kittens, a non-profit no kill organization. One day Meowmy was shopping next to a Petsmart and decided to go inside with no expectations of adopting a kitty. Inside she found me (Sparrow) and my two brothers (they were already adopted), Captain and Jack. I cried for her until she picked me up. What a sucker! After 2 seconds I had her! She went home with me that day.

I got really sick after a few days and they say I was probably depressed because I missed my brothers. So Meowmy went back the following weekend and adopted Peanut. We were so close since day one. We cuddled and played and were inseparable!

And yet another week later, Meowmy made the mistake of logging on to their website and saw Pebbles. She was so cute and looked like a little possum. Her story was sad. They found her behind a restaurant with her mother who had been hit by a car and didn’t survive. She didn’t do well at adoption events and had really bad anxiety. Meowmy wanted to help and had to drive an hour to the fosters to go see her. She fell in love and adopted her. We didn’t get along at first but a week in we all loved each other.


KM: Your Meowmy is so kind to take three kitties in! Describe a day in your life.

PSP: Well it starts off at 5am when I, Sparrow, pull Meowmy’s hair and Peanut meows like crazy until she gets up and feeds us. Once we eat, we are nice enough to let her go back to sleep because we need a warm body to cuddle with. On weekdays, Meowmy usually goes to work and we sleep, sleep and sleep. On weekends, she is usually home spending time with us. She acts as our Social Media Manager, Meowdeling Manager and Photographer (you know, since we are meowdels and all).

We are very spoilt kitties and live the good life. We had tons of accessories (bow-ties, flowers, bandanas) and tons of toys. I think we have trained our Meowmy very well.

KM: Oh definitely! You have her under your pretty little paws! LOL! I must congratulate you all on your budding meowdeling careers! But tell me, what do you REALLY think of your human? 

PSP: We wish we could say that she is our servant and does whatever we want but we love her and she loves us. We ARE treated like royalty BUT we show Meowmy just as much love.

KM: That is very sweet guys. What is your most favourite kind of food?

PSP: We love seafood, the wet kind, but we are on this crappy weight management food (I mean seriously?? We are meowdels! How can we possibly need to lose weight?!?!?)

KM: I think it’s so you can all stay healthy and strong so you can do even more meowdeling! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?

PSP: Oh this is tough… For me (Sparrow) it’s Meowmy’s hair ties! Those are the best!  Peanut loves catching prey in the middle of the night so he likes to catch mice toys. And Pebbles loves wand toys.

KM: Now I know you guys are some of the most well dressed cats out there! How would you describe your sense of style?

PSP: Fashionable! We love dressing up and looking cute. We actually sit still when Meowmy does a wardrobe change!


KM: It definitely shows in all the wonderful photos that you post! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

PSP: We haven’t really had too much experience with dogs after coming to our forever home. Our fosters had dogs and I used to ride on the dogs back. Most other animals, well they look delicious. Our hubro used to have a hamster and we would sit and watch him. Meowmy did put him in the hamster ball once and we got scared. I mean, no, no. We were brave and scared the hamster.

KM: You guys are too funny! If you could make one wish, what would it be?

PSP: That all cats/dogs are lucky enough to find the love and care we were lucky enough to find. And if we have a 2nd wish, unlimited supply of treats!

KM: I am with you on both those wishes!! Do you have any special skills?

PSP: I (Sparrow) know how to calm my Meowmy down no matter what is bothering her. Peanut has almost learned to sit on command but it’s really when he wants to. And of course, we have our signature meowdeling poses down! Head tilts and adorable faces.

KM: You are all amazing at your meowdeling!  What do you guys value most in life?

PSP: Our meowmy without a doubt.


KM: Considering the political climate today, how do you feel about more cats getting into politics and making the world kinder?

PSP: Wait, I thought we already ruled the world?!?! If not, we should.

KM: Haha! I think we secretly rule the world and no one else knows it!! Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?


PSP: We love meeting all of our great furriends amd Meowmy has really made some ameowzing connections with their hoomans, but this is really about us, not her. We don’t like the whole follower count and people who follow to unfollow. We want furriends who truly connect with us.

KM: That is so true. So many people follow but don’t interact! Do you guys have any special someones in your lives?

PSP: We are all lucky to have many special someones in our lives! I (Sparrow) have my sweet Jimmy aka Jimbo (@we3catbros). I fainted after watching him perform with the Orange Crush Cat Band. After that, it was love at first sight. Peanut is with Zippy (@collins_cats). They both played hard to get and we all knew where it was heading. They are purrfect for each other. It’s not all lovey dovey like me and Jimmy, but it’s so them! Pebbles has Tony (@tony_bologna_cat). They’ve been together the longest and I think they look so adorable together with their silly faces. 💕 I adore how he calls her bootiful!

KM: That is just so wonderful! They are all my furriends too!! If any of you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?

PSP:  For me (Sparrow) I’m all about romance. I like the smooches, romantic dinners and occasional stalking of Dex (@dex_the_cat_life) and his not girlfriend, girlfriend, Stella (Jimmy’s actual cousin). Peanut likes going for rides with Zippy and feeling the wind through their fur. They are all about the adventure life! Pebbles loves going to fun pawties with Tony. He throws the best ones!

KM: Yes! Tony’s pawties are epic!  I love how you guys are into so many different things! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

PSP: We’d like to try to venture outside when we move to our new apartment. We hear we are right next to a gorgeous lake and in a quiet complex. It’s much calmer than where we live now. Hopefully we won’t freak out! 🙀

KM: Sounds beautiful! I can’t wait to see photos of all your outdoor adventures! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

PSP: We hope to make more furriends and get to know all of COI better. We are silly kitties who don’t take too much seriously.

KM: Thanks for joining me today Katniss! It is so lovely to have you here. Can you tell me how you found your human?
K: My mum was looking for a cat and my mum’s friend knew that I was looking for a home. My Mum came to meet me the same day and took me home.
KM: That’s very sweet! Now that you have found your forever home, how do you spend your day?
K: I have an easy relaxing life. My mum works from home so I spend all day sitting with her while she gets her work done. I’m also an indoor kitty.
 
KM: You’re so lucky! I too love it when my pawrents are home with me all day! What do you REALLY think of your human?
K: She can be annoying sometimes. She constantly takes my picture!  When I eat, when I groom she is there taking photos. But I love her. 
 
KM: Ha ha! Tell me about it! Mine does the same thing! I swear the only privacy I get is when I use the potty. Anyway, on to more pleasant things…. What is your most favourite kind of food?
K: Chicken and gravy 
 
KM: Mmmmmm…… delicious! If you had to choose one toy to play with, what would that be?
K: My rocket fuel catnip mouse 
 
KM: Wow! That sounds like an amazing toy! How would you describe your sense of style?
K: Pink and girlie 
 
KM: I bet you must look lovely in all your accessories. You look marvelous in this bandana you are wearing! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?
K: Cats rule, dogs drool. Cats are definitely at the top of the hierarchy. 
KM: Those are some wise words Katniss! If you could make one wish, what would it be?
K: That every cat has a loving home with lots of love, food and toys.

K: I’m very good at jumping very high! 
 
KM: Amazing! You must get your mum to take a video of your high jumps! I’m sure everyone would love to see it! What do you value most in life?

KM: The simple things in life are the best aren’t they? Considering the political climate today, how do you feel about more cats getting into politics and making the world kinder?
K: I love it! I’d love to be the Prime Minister of England!
 
KM: Oh I’m sure you will make an excellent PM! Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media? 
K: I love that there are so many unique kitties. I love how everyone is so kind and welcoming. I’ve been on Instagram for 5 months and there’s nothing that I dislike. I love seeing all my friends’ new photos and posts and seeing what they’ve all been up to.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?
K: I do! I have a very special handsome gentlecat called Sunshine. He is an American bobtail cat.
 
KM: OMG! You are Sunshine’s lady? That’s wonderful! He is such a nice guy! You two make a lovely couple! If you were to go on a date, what would a perfect day/night look like?
K: A picnic under the stars 
 
KM: Definitely very romantic! Sunshine, take notes here ! LOL! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?
K: I’d like to be able to learn to walk on my harness so I can go exploring with mum.
KM: It takes a bit of time Katniss. You will be comfortable in it in no time and then you can go on many adventures! Keep trying!

Katdid Konversation With Sisu

What a fabulous day it is to chat with a wonderful furriend!
Welcome to Katdid Konversations!
I am your host, Kitty Mojito!
Today we are heading to the beautiful city of Calgary to chat with distinguished 18 year old gentleman Sisu!

KM: Thanks for joining me today Sisu! It is an honour to finally get to chat with you! Let’s get started by talking a bit about your past. How did you come to find your human?
S: I was found in an industrial area of Calgary in January, the coldest time of the year. Luckily, a kind worker noticed me and took the time to catch me and take me to a shelter. Here they did the old snip-snip and fixed me up in other ways. I was very malnourished and had some skin problems but they took very good care of me. The first day I was put up for adoption, my hoomins came in and immediately took me to the play room. They smelled nice and talked to me so much that I went right up to them and started purring. Next thing I know, I’m in a box with a bunch of food and cat stuff all around me, riding in a car to my furrever home.
 
KM: That is a wonderful start to your great life! Describe a day in your life
S: I wait outside the bedroom door and the second I hear them moving, I start meowing in very short, sharp loud bursts. That’s why they call me The Trumpet. I only ever do this first thing in the morning. It’s my reminder to them that my food bowl is empty, or at least there is a hole in the middle of the kibble. Isn’t that horrible? I sit on their laps while they have their tea and coffee and read the paper. I like reading the paper too, by crumpling it up. After breakfast, I sit on my perch and sleep. Then I move upstairs and continue napping throughout the day, on the couch or under the lamp. Evenings are often movie or book time which means I get to sit on laps and snuggle. Oh, and nap some more before bedtime.

KM: That sounds very cozy! Now if your human has returned home from a very long day of running errands, how do you greet him/her?
S: I run to the door. I’m not aloof like some cats. I meow and rub myself on their legs to let them know how much I missed them, how much I love them. Also, by doing this, sometimes I get extra treats.
 
KM: Extra treats are the best aren’t they? What kind of food do you like?
S: TUNA.  Ahem. I might have lost it for a moment but I go crazy for tuna. I don’t eat any other human food except sometimes I’ll get a piece of extra old Balderson’s cheddar. No other cheese, just that one. With tuna.
 
KM: What is your favourite toy?
S: My green mousie. I’ve had it for a long time and I love to carry it around. Often I put it in Meowmy’s shoe. It’s safe there.
 
KM: Sisu, you have a few years under your belt. How has your sense of style developed over the years?
S: I am dapper and old fashioned. I am a senior cat after all so I like the bowtie and suspenders look. It suits me and my mellow mood.
 
KM: You definitely do rock that look! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?
S: I do not like other animals. The hoomins tried to introduce another cat with the help of my Meowmy’s sister, who works in animal shelters and knows how to do these things, and I told them who was boss. No way was I sharing my space with another kitty! It’s okay though because Meowmy’s sister adopted the other kitty and he has a great home. His name is Wyatt. It all worked out for the best.
 
KM: I hear you… I’m not sure about other cats either! Although Mama keeps saying that we should get another kitty. Like I’m not enough for her! Jeez!… Anyway, if you could make one wish, what would it be?
S: I wish people were more educated about animal welfare and realize that animals are living beings, NOT objects. There needs to be more done for education about spay and neuter programs, how that stops so much suffering. Also, tied in to this, our laws need to change to reflect animals being treated as living, breathing beings with harsher penalties for people who don’t respect this.

KM: Most definitely. The animal procetion laws here in Canada are so pathetic! Sisu, do you have any special skills?
S: Purring. Definitely purring. My purr is deep and loud. Sometimes in the morning when I am so excited to see the hoomins, I get a squeak in my purr and it makes them laugh but I keep on purring.
 
KM: What things are most important to you now? 
S: Changing laws on animal abuse and cruelty. In Canada, the laws haven’t been changed in decades and the one that tried to be passed last fall failed. Meowmy is researching and finding out what to do to re-word the law and get it on the floor again. Canada needs to catch up to modern times. Also, paws need claws. That is another petition that needs to be refreshed and made into law, like most Western countries already have in place.
 
KM: How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?
S: I think we could learn a lot from cats. I definitely follow #derpcabnet and Mr. Derpurrez @little_franklin_ Many of the top issues regarding cat welfare are brought up through these posts. Also, the COI community is fantastic for being supportive and caring of all who are on there. Maybe hoomins could learn a bit more about getting along and accepting others even if they are different from one another.

KM: Hey, I’m in the DerpCabnet too!! Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?
S: There is real in the unreal on IG. I have friends on IG who I haven’t met, yet I feel as if we have known each other forever. There are true bonds and connections that form from sharing and caring and that is so beautiful. I don’t like all the ads. What’s up with that?!
 
KM: I share that sentiment with you Sisu! Do you have a special someone in your life? 
S: My hoomins. Both give me different kinds of love. Meowmy spoils me and kisses me and cuddles me so much. Catdad does too but he plays and rough houses more with me, which I like as well. Different types of affection but I can tell they love me so much. I love them too. I’m grateful to have found them.

KM: Don’t tell me a handsome hunk like you is single! No way! What is your dream date?
S:  Quiet classical music with some tunatinis. Me in a bowtie, her in a ball room gown. I’m an old fashioned romantic.
 
KM: Sounds so dreamy! What would you like to accomplish in the near future?
S: I really would like to consume some more tuna. It’s been awhile. Might have to get on the hoomins about that.
 
KM: Is there anything else you would like to say?
S: I am really grateful to have found the COI community. Meowmy was unsure about IG but now she feels the love and support of like-minded people. She also loves the fact that by being on IG, she has taken more photos of me and created a photo journal of my life and that matters a lot to her. She loves the sharing that people do, about their cats, their lives, their passions, everything. A big thank you for all who follow us! Head bonks and tail hugs to each and every one of you.
