Katdid Konversation With Gatsby and Earl

It’s a beautiful Sunday today and what a great day to chat with some fabulous felines in another edition of Katdid Konversations!

I am your host, Kitty Mojito!

Today we chat with two handsome brothers from my hometown of Edmonton, Alberta! I am very excited to chat with them! Please welcome Gatsby and Earl!

KM: Hi guys! Thanks so much for joining me today! I am so excited to have you here. So let’s talk about how you found your people…

Gatsby: Apparently mommy was searching for an attractive grey cat and naturally she gravitated towards me! She saw me on the Humane Society website, rushed there and saw two ladies admiring me. Mommy’s heart skipped a beat as she thought they were going to take me away. The volunteer asked if mommy needed help and she demanded to see Tron.  Eww that was once my name!  She held me, told cat daddy we’re having him and the rest is history!

Earl: Is it my turn yet? Daddy wanted a friend for Gatsby. Mom and Dad were told Gatsby was socially awkward and was to be the only cat. Mom and Dad thought they had enough room in their house for another cat and decided to take the risk.  Many times they went looking but didn’t find the “right” cat until I came on the scene.  They had many failed attempts when they got to the humane society and cats were gone!  Mom saw me and raced yet again to save me.  Mom basically came to me, saw me for a few seconds and grabbed my details and adopted me!  No chances were going to be taken! And of course I’m awesome!!

KM: Describe a day in your life. What is it like at Chez Gatsby and Earl? (Chez = Home in French)

Gatsby: Probably sleeping all day but we have this annoying squirt called Earl.  Sometimes he bats me on the head when I sleep so I’m forced to chase him.

Earl:  Oh Gatsby……. come on dude.  Your life would be boring without me!

Gatsby:  No, no I really don’t think so Earl.  I really would have a peaceful day.

KM: Haha! You two really are brothers, all this bantering back and forth….. It’s very sweet! So when your human returns home from a very long day of running errands, how do you greet him/her?

Gatsby:  If I’m lucky, I’ve probably had a nice long sleep! I get up, stroll over to them and get fed.

Earl:  MOMMY and DADDY are home! Wooooo Hooooo!!! I run to the door right away! I love seeing them. I always hang out with the hoomans. I love them so much, especially when mommy strokes the top of my head!

Gatsby:  I love them too! I just require to be fed first.

KM: I hear you! The hoomans can be pretty awesome sometimes! What kind of food do you like?

Gatsby:  Did someone say food, are you going to feed me?  I am a little more fussy than Earl.

Earl:  Mommy calls me bottomless pit.  I like to eat anything. In fact, I try to grab bowls with my little paw and pull them towards me. I try to take it away from the hoomans.

KM: I’m not going to feed you Gatsby! LOL! In fact, do you have any nomnoms for me that you may have stolen from the hoomans,  Earl? Now that would be a treat! What is your favourite toy?

Gatsby:  My favourite toy is my Dragon Fly.  NO ONE plays with Dragon fly!  I also like this Cat Dancer toy mommy got me, I love that thing!

Earl:  Well apparently I’m never allowed to play with anything, Gatbsy is soooo annoying.  I do like to chase small bouncing balls. That’s totally fun!

KM: Now I know your mommy makes beautiful things so I am guessing you guys get to try some pretty sweet stuff! How would you describe your sense of style?

Gatsby:  I’m just a laid back, handsome dude!  My mom nicknamed me “the lord”  I am named after the film you know.

Earl:  Fun loving, always ready to play.

KM: Nice, Nice…. What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

Gatsby: Earl and I both like watching birds, that’s a lot of fun.

Earl:  Oh yeah, bird watching.  Mom and Dad laugh because I get way too excited and chatter.

KM: Ah Yes! Birds! Our favourite treat! ….. umm…. I mean…. to watch…. I mean…..watching! I only watch! …… If you could make one wish, what would it be?

Gatsby:  For all cats to be neutered! There are far too many in the world that need rescuing.  It’s a topic that mommy is passionate about and she wishes she could adopt more of us but there is only so much one person can do!

Earl:  Mommy would also like the declawing of cats to be stopped. There is no need for it and I really like my claws!

KM: Yes definitely! I wish I had my claws too! But the evil people who had me before I found Mama took them off 😦  Do you have any special skills?

Gatsby:  I have my sexy looks.

Earl:  I’m an acrobat! My agility is awesome. Mom and Dad hate when I balance on the top of the stair handrail.  It gets to them every time.  He He!

Gatsby: You’re an idiot!

KM: Now, Now boys! There is no need for name calling! What things are most important to you now?

Gatsby:  Food, did someone say food?

Earl:  I don’t really think too much. I live my life with no worries and regrets.

KM: Oh Gatsby, there isn’t much other than food that you think about! And Earl, that is a good philosophy to live by! How do you guys feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

Gatsby: It’s important to raise awareness on cat issues and health. There are so many cats hoomans out there that do so much awesome work for us guys with no actual voices. We are all very thankful for your hard work and determination to change our lives for the positive!

Earl:  I’m a little too young to understand your question.

KM: It’s ok Earl, You can answer this question 🙂 Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like / don’t like about social media?

Gatsby: We have made so many great furfriends on social media.  We have had so much support, fun and we are so glad to be part of a wonderful community.

Earl:  I just make it difficult for mom to get pictures of me. It’s a fun game LOL. We do dislike being followed then unfollowed! What’s that about?? We’re an awesome account!  MOM, tell them!!

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

Gatsby:  Mom, I love mom.  Its because of her we live this amazing life. She and dad have made some awesome stuff for us. We have a catio, exercise wheel, toys, beds, cat trees etc. We love it when mom and dad make us stuff.

Earl:  Sorry Dad, but yes we love our mommy.  She saved us. Unless it’s dinner time then we love Daddy.

KM: Wow! You guys are very lucky to have such fantastic pawrents! What is your dream date?

Gatsby: To lie on Mommy’s chest and fall asleep while she strokes me.  Bliss….

Earl:  I’m not interested in dating at this time.

KM: What?? You two are so handsome! I bet the ladies are throwing themselves at you all the time! (Wink, wink) What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

Gatsby: To get some sleep without Earl annoying me.

Earl:  Fame, I want to be the most famous grey cat…… IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!

Gatsby: Earl, that is so lame. .Really.

Earl: At least it’s better than just falling asleep.

KM: Do you have anything else you would like to say?

Mommy:  I’ll take over this last bit boys.  

Adopting Gatsby and Earl has really changed my life. I have never really been a cat person and Gatsby and Earl have changed both mine and my husband’s hearts.  I’ve become an advocate on many issues, creating a podcast which is searchable via itunes (The Adopted Cat), a YouTube account and many other social media accounts.  If you can, please, please, please adopt and don’t purchase your pet.  I find that with adoption of an animal, they seem to come to you with even more love. Some of the rescues have been through a terrible time. If you’re thinking of a second cat, go for it. If you research well and not rush, you will receive the same level of success that I have with my two boys.

Katdid Konversation With Winter

Welcome to another wonderful edition of Katdid Konversations!

I am your host, Kitty Mojito

Today we take a trip to Santa Clarita, California to chat with Winter.

KM: Hi Winter! Thank you for joining me today! I am so thrilled to have you here. So let’s start by talking about how you found your humans.

W: On Black Friday, Momma always buys cat and dog  food to take to the shelter. When she stopped by the cat area, I was in the same cage that 2 of her other kitties were adopted in. I was sick and the attendant said not to even bother as I was going to have to be euthanized in the next hour. Momma said, “Sorry he is coming home with me.” She paid $5 for tags and immediately took me to her cat doctor and they fixed me right up.

KM: Wow! I am so glad she was able to save you! Describe a day in your life.

W: I wake Momma with a toy. I like to drop them on her. Then it’s breakfast but I like to eat everyone’s food too so Momma has to pick me up and snuggle me while everyone eats (at least I get snuggled)! Then it’s hang time with my dog siblings. They like me a lot and they are old so I help them stay warm. Then I go find the hidden treats Momma leaves for me and watch birds from my window hammock. I usually nap like 20 times a day to keep my energy up for night time. After dinner, it’s crazy time with Momma. I usually help her go to sleep by sitting on her face.

KM: What do you REALLY think of your humans?

W: I love Momma. Momma is awesome. Papa and my human brother are cool. They feeds me and pets me, but Momma… oh Momma is just so awesome. She is my very favorite.

KM: That is so sweet! Mommas are just so wonderful aren’t they? Winter,what kind of food do you like?

W: I’m almost embarrassed to say this but dog food is really tasty! I also enjoy catnip Temptations. But the best thing is eggs! I love eating Momma’s eggs!

KM: Eggs? That’s interesting! I’ve never had them before! What are they like? Are they yummy? OK OK I got sidetracked there for a minute! What is your favourite toy?

W: I have ‘Red Bird’ from Birds of a sweater that I carry around and adore, and I also love the red dot. The red dot is amazing! Have you seen the red dot? The red dot is so sneaky fun!

KM: I love the red dot too!!!!! Now how would you describe your sense of style?

W: I’m dapper all the way! Give me a bow tie and I’m all set.

KM: You sure look great in those bowties! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

W: I have 2 wiener dogs and a chihuahua in my life and I love them. I helped bring 14 year old Boomer back from almost dying (part of the reason Momma brought me home was to help with the loss of a dear pup that went to heaven). Boomer loves kitties and I helped love him out of his sadness. I even hang out with my Doberman niece once in a while. Birds though… I want to touch them…. They tease me at the windows.

KM: Oh my goodness! That is so wonderful. You are a real hero! What do you do when you get bored ?

W: We don’t get bored too much. Momma treats the house like a zoo and introduces new stuff and takes away old stuff all the time. We have a bird feeder that moves from window to window and we all love to find the treats she hides.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

W: All the humans would be responsible about their pets so shelters wouldn’t have to exist.

KM: That is a very honourable wish my friend! Do you have any special skills?

W: I am an expert Momma tracker. I also pose for pictures. All Momma has to do is ask me to sit pretty.

KM: What things are most important to you now?

W: Momma

KM: How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

W: I think the humans should do a better job or us animals should be represented.

KM: Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?
W: I love seeing beautiful animals. Some are super funny and all are super supportive and sweet. Momma and I have made some ameowzing friends that we cherish. What we don’t like… people who are cruel to animals and say mean things about animals.

KM: Winter, I think I know the answer to this question but I will ask you anyway 🙂 Do you have a special someone in your life?

W: I have a girlfriend. Sweet Prim. She is a pure breed that is very sweet and kind.

KM: Prim is a very lucky girl! What is your dream date?

W: I would love to bird watch after a dinner of eggs. Then of course snuggle and bathe each other.

KM: What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

W: I’d like to help raise awareness about some of the ameowzing fosters we know on IG. And Momma thinks I should be a meowdel.

KM: I think you will make a wonderful meowdel! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

W: I love Momma!

Katdid Konversation With Sugar

Another great edition of Katdid Konversations is ready to kick off!

Today I have with me the most adorable Sugar, a 6 month old kitty from Ogden!

KM: Welcome to the show Sugar! I am delighted to have you here with me today. Tell us, how did you come to find your human?

S: I thought I had a forever home, but it was not so. I was kept in a room by myself, I ate by myself when they remembered to feed me and finally they surrendered me to the local shelter where I was put up for adoption. I saw my mama walk by and started meowing. She smelled so sweet and was so kind. She played with me and then walked away! I was sad! Then she came back…. she called the lady and said she wanted me out of there and in her home by Wednesday.

KM: That’s wonderful! Now that you are in your home, what does a typical day in your life look like?

S: I have two drool beasts, Gunner and Archer – but they are very kind and polite.  My fur brother and sister, Clyde Barrow and Bonnie are great too! We all run meowing to mama. If Cat Daddy is home, he calls me baby kitty, picks me up and he carries me around in his arms. He pulls a chair close to the counter and gives me a tablespoon of tuna.  Then we start to play. Bonnie and I run up and down the stairs, in and out of rooms. Then we nap for hours and do this over again.  Mama spends several hours just playing with us and grooming us. She loves the three of us. I love when she picks me up, cuddles me close and calls me her little Sugar Princess.

KM: What a terrific family you have, Sugar! So when your Mama or Cat Daddy comes home from a very long day of running errands, how do you greet them?

S: I come running out meowing and sitting up so that they will pick me up.

KM: What kind of food do you like?

S: I like tuna, Sheba fillets,fresh water from the fountain and Sheba stix.

KM: I am going to guess that you love playing with many toys! Which one is your favourite?

S: I love my cat nip banana (my tummy never tickled so much!)! My stick with crinkly balls, bells and feathers.  Oh and my butterfly!

KM: I love the catnip banana too! I call in the iBanana! How would you describe your sense of style?

S: I am a mini princess. Mama is helping me choose my first summer outfits.

KM: I’m looking forward to seeing you in your summer attire! I’m sure you will look fabulous! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

S: I’m ok with Gunner and Archer but no other.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

S: That all the kitties that need homes find homes.I didn’t know how unhappy I was until Mama moved me to her house. She gave me space but made it clear I was loved.

KM: Do you have any special skills?

S: I am very fast and I can jump high! Very high!

KM: Whoa! You must get mama to take a video of you doing your high jumps! What things are most important to you now?

S: My Mama, Cat Daddy, Bonnie & Clyde. I also love my beautiful pink collar with a bow and purple name plate “Sugar”.

KM: Sugar, what do you think about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

S: I think we need more cats coming together and letting their voices be heard. It’s good to have role models but we all must use our meow.

KM: I totally agree with you! We must all stick together! Now Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/don’t like about social media?

S: I haven’t had to much exposure yet but mama and Bonnie and Clyde say they have met some wonderful friends, had their hearts broken and their faith restored.  I look forward to meeting everyone!

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

S: My mama and Cat Daddy

KM: Aww that is so cute! Your Mama and Cat Daddy must be soo wonderful! What is your dream date?  

S: What’s a date?

KM: Oh I am so sorry! You are still some time away from dating I guess. What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

S: Meet new furriends!

Katdid Konversation With Augustus

Good morning everypawdy!

Welcome to another edition of your favourite talk show ‘Katdid Konversations’

I am your host, Kitty Mojito

Today we are chatting with Augustus, a stylish stud from Montrose, Colorado!

He is 8 months old and is quite a fashion forward dude!

KM: Thanks for joining me today Gus! Let’s start by chatting a bit about your history. Tell me about how you found your human.

A:  At only five months old, my identical twin brother and I were abandoned at our local animal shelter by abusive and careless humans. We were underfed and as anxious as ever, but the people at the shelter were kind and offered us lots of love. For three weeks, we sat in separate cages, subject to the meows and screams of other kitties in the same situation. Strangers visited daily, always cooing at us and jabbing their fingers through the wires. Not once did any of these visitors take me out of my cage like they did with everyone else. The only pets and cuddles I received were from the animal shelter’s staff. They tried so hard to make me feel comfortable, but I always curled up in the back of my cage, hiding behind a sea of blankets and my litter box. One day, January 29th as I’m told, two humans came to my rescue. Both of them remained calm as they examined me. There were no unwanted fingers poking at me, but instead a click of the cage door being open. I decided to arise from the shadows and cautiously stepped towards them. Patiently, they allowed me to sniff their fingers, before one of them gently picked me up. She spoke softly, “He’s perfect. We have to adopt him.” And that was it. In less than thirty minutes I was walking on unknown carpet in an unfamiliar apartment, exploring the possibilities. This was home.

KM: That is such a wonderful story! I am so glad you found them! Now that you found your forever home, describe what a typical day in your life looks like.

A:  Most of my days start at 4:00 am, awoken by one of my humans mysteriously disappearing to this place called “work”. My eyes are always cloudy with sleep, disgruntled and disturbed by the early morning excitement. Mom doesn’t get out of bed despite my efforts to convince her otherwise. I strut around the living room chirping and meowing to get her attention, not because I’m hungry, but because I want to show her things; I want her to watch the sunrise with me. My tactics only become more intense once I realize she’s not getting up. I race from room to room, gripping the carpet and crashing into everything. Suddenly she’s awake, scrambling to grab me and take me back to bed. We snuggle up under the covers and I receive pets and scratches causing a series of purrs. Eventually she falls asleep and my eyes grow heavy. She wins…this time. By 9:00 am I’m practicing my shenanigans again, bringing all my favorite toys to the bed and attacking them vigorously. Two or three human sighs later I’m at last fed. Dry food, grain free salmon, my all time favorite, and a healthy dose of fresh water. After breakfast is the morning poop, timed perfectly to correspond with my human’s shower so that I stink up the bathroom, encouraging her to hurry it along. I lie on her pile of new clothes, keeping them warm for when she gets out. Next stop: lounging on the couch, and enjoying some lovely head scratches while we watch tv. At noon, Dad is home and psyched to see us. I no longer need to protect Mom, leaving my morning duties to do my daily bird watching. The windowsill is warm with sunlight and there’s always something new to see outside. Within the next hour I chirp and chatter at birds, before a bandana is slung over my head and a harness is buckled across my chest. The three of us head outside and it’s time to explore the grasses. I sniff a few dandelions and munch on some leaves. Without hesitation, I claw my way up my favorite tree and plop down to observe my surroundings. I do my best to model while Mom snaps some pictures, then we stroll around the block, avoiding the kitties who don’t like me too much. Back at home, we settle on a movie and while my humans are preoccupied with this entertainment, I stir up some trouble. I hop on the bar and shove foreign objects off. Everything belongs on the floor, including me since I have this condition called “litter box feet”. I leap down, grabbing my contraband and scurrying to the bathroom. Once there, I hide my stash under the rug, and flee, hoping no one has noticed my absence. I busy the humans by hunting my toys, wiggling my booty and pouncing on the unsuspecting victims. After a while of this, I’m pooped and ready for an afternoon nap. Hours later I’m awoken by the feeling of hunger. Dinner time! It’s always wet food and always a surprise, never chicken but always a fishy choice. Gobbling down each and every morsel, I lick my bowl clean. Then it’s on to washing my face, paws and butt. Back in the window, next the box, another nap, a tumble with my sheep, and all of a sudden this thing called “bedtime” occurs. Bedtime for me means a chance at playing on the counters, booping the plants and attempting to scale the cabinets. When this gets boring , it’s time to attack the litter box and make a huge ruckus, get in the bathtub and pull out drain and scarf down the last of my water. Off to sleep I am, cuddling in between my humans and dozing straight into dream land.

KM: Wow! Your days are full of so many fun times! I can tell that you live every day to the fullest! What kind of food do you like the most?

A: Nutrisca’s Tuna and Crab grain free wet food, Under the Sun’s grain free Salmon dry food, and Merrick’s Rabbit Cuts pouches

KM: What is your favourite toy?

A: My yellow lamb named Blep

KM: You are seen sporting some pretty fine bandannas. How would you describe your sense of style?

A: Trendy with a hint of adventure and spunk

KM: What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

A: Dogs shall not be trusted, they bow down to humans and they sniff lots of butts. I’m also not fond of other cats or strangers whether they be humans or not. I love bugs though!

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be? 

A: To help all other animal shelter kitties like me find their forever families.

KM: That’s a very noble wish! I wish for the same! So tell me Gus, do you have any special skills?

A: Communication! I constantly communicate with my humans by meowing or chirping when they ask me questions. I also help my humans paint, sew and do puzzles. I’m an expert in booping, escaping harnesses, parkour, and hiding.

KM: So many amazing skills! What things are most important to you now?

A: My humans are beyond important to me. I hate seeing them upset or sick and I always attempt to comfort them and make them feel better. They are my heroes and I love them. Adoption in animal shelters is also very dear to me as I believe every animal deserves a chance at having a family.

KM: That is so true Gus! I wish that everyone will adopt a shelter pet and take care of them forever! How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

A: I never see any kitties in politics! Let’s elect one of our own into office! There is no representation of our kind and we deserve a voice!

KM: Most definitely. You should get in touch with Mr. Derpurrez @little_franklin! He is very active in the political scene! Now Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?

A: I love connecting with kitties and their humans through Instagram. I’ve forged tons of new friendships with social media. The downside is that I don’t have enough time to connect with EVERYONE like I’d like to.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

A:  There’s a little orange kitty that lives in the apartment right above us! I always see her in the window when we’re out on walks. She is very beautiful! We’re a thing, she just doesn’t know it yet!

KM: That is so cute! I hope we get to hear more about her soon! What is your dream date?

A: Sprawling out in the grass, dining on fine tuna and drinking the purest of water whilst planning the future.

KM: Oh My! Aren’t you a romantic? 🙂 So what would you like to accomplish in the near future?

A:  I’d love to raise awareness on the benefits of adopting even more and aide in finding homes for the strays out there. If anything I’d love to make more new friends and create more bonds.

Katdid Konversation With Salem

Welcome to another week of ‘Katdid Konversations’

I am your host, Kitty Mojito

Today we are talking with handsome Brit, Salem who will be turning 2 next month!

KM: Thanks for joining me, Salem! Let’s start by how you came to find your human? 

S: My meowmy went to a rescue to see kitty cats and I was so flat and squished into my bed, she didn’t even see me! I’m super glad the worker pointed me out to her because I love my meowmy and she loves me

KM: Describe a day in your life.

S: Ok here goes……

1. Wake meowmy up by twanging her bobbles on the door handle.

2. Meow and purr in her face uncontrollably.

3. Wait for meowmy to get ready and I follow her downstairs

4. Meowmy puts my collar on and puts my breakfast out and opens the back door.

5. I skip breakfast and go outside to hunt and play.

6. I come back home just after midday to eat my breakfast. I have a nap on meowmy’s knee and then I follow her to and from the shop.

7. I get home with meowmy and have another sleep.

8. I then go back out again and don’t come home until 8pm!

9. Meowmy shouts me in and I have my tea followed by a grooming session.

10. Next, I have a crazy hour! I run around and play with things I shouldn’t, like pens and important pieces of paper.

11. Around 10 or 11pm, I go upstairs and get into bed with meowmy. I curl up next to her belly. But in the middle of the night, I get too hot and I move and lay on her feet.

KM: Wow, your days are just full of fun and excitement! Salem, when your human returns home from a very long day of running errands,  how do you greet her?

S: I would be sitting in the rabbit’s cage with the rabbit waiting for her. I let out a little purr/chirp and rub against her legs. Or I’m just out having fun, no where to be seen.

KM: What kind of food do you like?

S: CHICKEN!! Its my favourite. But I’d eat anything… including bugs and rabbit poo.

KM: Rabbit poo??? Oh dear! I bet your meowmy is not too happy about that! What is your favourite toy?

S: My tunnel! Or a bird if I manage to catch one!

KM: How would you describe your sense of style?

S: Naturally, purrfectly handsome

KM: What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

S: I love my bunny friend. He is called Bugsy. We sleep together sometimes. Sometimes I chase him and sometimes he chases me. I like other kitty cats too! I want to be friends but some of them hiss and hit me and I run away! I hate dogs!!! I make them scared of me grrr!

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

S: I would wish that my meowmy never had to brush my long, fluffy fur

KM: So Salem, you do a lot of fun stuff so I am thinking that you must have many special skills! Tell me about them.

S: I am very floppy. If I get picked up, I flop.

KM: Oh that is so cute! What is most important to you now?

S: Having fun!!! Because fun is fun!

KM: How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

S: I am too young! I’m only 2… I don’t know lol meow

KM: Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/don’t like about social media?

S: I LOVE the IG cat community. They helped my meowmy pay for some expensive medical treatment for me. I also love sending and receiving gifts and letters from my furr friends all over the world.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

S: My special someone would be my meowmy! She rescued me and gave me a second chance in life so I’m furrrever grateful

KM: What is your dream date?

S: Eat and sleep

KM: Oh Salem, you are too funny! So what would you like to accomplish in the near future?

S: I want to spread the word on how black cats aren’t bad luck or cursed. We are amazing kitties with so much love.

Katdid Konversation With Orson

Today we are chatting with the sauve and stylish Orson! This handsome hunk hails from Berkeley, California and currently lives in Oakland!

This is Katdid Konversations and I am your host, Kitty Mojito

KM: Orson, it is so great to have you here today! Let’s talk about how things started for you. How did you come to find your human? 

O: I was brought to the shelter in Berkeley as a stray. As if! I was not a stray, I just hadn’t picked out a human yet and was walking to get a slice of pizza and more tobacco for my pipe when I was rudely interrupted. Anyway, my human’s friend volunteers at the Berkeley shelter. She posted pictures of me on Facebook and my human was smitten with my stunningly handsome looks. The human and I officially met after I was transferred to the East Bay SPCA. She came to visit me but didn’t take me home, as she had an older kitty at home who wasn’t keen on a roommate. I was adopted by people who I can describe only as utter nut jobs since they returned me to the shelter because I have allergies, and therefore, some skin issues. Anyhow, the human’s kitty had passed away in the meantime. She caught wind of my return and snatched me up as her foster kitty. We all knew that was a ruse though. She had no intentions of merely fostering me. I came home with her on July 28, 2016 and here I shall stay.

KM: Wow! What a wonderful story that was! It sounds to me like you and your human were just meant to be! Can you describe a day in your life?

O: I start my day by waking the human with a variety of techniques including, but not limited to: face taps, toe nibbling, butt slaps and elbow licking. After the human arises from the bed like a swamp monster having a bad hair day, I dine on my breakfast. After breakfast, I often nap on the couch. If it’s a workday, I’ll leave the human alone until I’m hungry for my lunch, at which point I will start jumping on her back while she sits in her office chair. This is particularly rewarding when she’s on a video conference call. After my lunch, I’ll play with my toys, watch some birds from the window and nap about 28 times until dinner. After dinner, I prefer to lounge and watch TV on the human’s lap with one of my favorite blankies.

KM: So if your human returns home from a very long day of running errands, how do you greet her?

O: I greet her when she opens the door and then I demand food while making threats about calling the authorities because my lunch is late.

KM: You have an awesome sense of humour! LOL What kind of food do you like?

O: All kinds, although I’m on an allergy diet. I eat a rabbit and pea based kibble. I steal whatever I can get, however. I scored some mac and cheese the other day. I even like dog food!

KM: What is your favourite toy, Orson?

O: Probably my Kong feathered catnip balls.

KM: So you are seen wearing some very cool outfits! How would you describe your sense of style?

O: Smooth. I’m a clothes horse, as they say. I have about 8 bow ties, several shirts and even an argyle sweater.

KM: You sure do have a great style sense, Orson! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

O: I like them. I was in the “cat sanctuary” at the shelter, which means I hung with other kitties in a dorm room. I especially like other critters when they come with food that I can steal.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

O: For my allergies and skin issues to go away.

KM: I think I know the answer to this question because you are so cool but I will ask anyway! 🙂 Do you have any special skills?

O: Yes, I’m a champion car-rider, an accomplished wine taster, I come when called and take my medicine like a pro.

KM: That’s aweseome! What things are most important to you now? 

O: My humom. She makes me feel secure. I’m pretty cool in different situations because I know she’s there and will protect me. Also, my blanket collection, toys, favorite box and cat scratchers.

KM: How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

O: I’m positive felines could only raise the bar in this political climate. We definitely need fair representation. Tunatinis for all cat-kind!

KM: Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like / don’t like about social media?

O: I’ve adored my Instagram experience! I’ve made so many friends all over the world. It’s amazing. I love the support and kindness I experience and witness in the COI community. The only negative about IG would have to be the algorithm. Mark Zuckerberg thinks he knows what I want to see and I miss some of my friends’ updates as a result. I wish IG’s feed was chronological.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

O: Well, my girlfriend is Rosie of @rosiemal. She lives in Brooklyn and is boooootiful. We go to a lot of Instagram pawties together.

KM: Rosie is a sweetheart! You two make a lovely couple! What is your dream date?

O: Tunatinis, a bird feeder to watch, a pizza to eat and my Rosie.

KM: What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

O: I’d like to have a boo boo free spell that lasts longer than two months.

KM: I wish that for you too buddy!! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

Welcome to another edition of “Katdid Konversations’

I am your host, Kitty Mojito.

Today we are talking to two really great gals from Bristol, Tennessee. Please say hello to Ellie, who is 1 year old and Pippa, who is 7 months. They are also known as the Gray Girls.

KM: Thanks so much for joining me today! So let’s start from the beginning, how did you guys come to find your human?

Ellie: My human adopted me from an animal shelter on June 18, 2016.

Pippa: She adopted me also from an animal shelter on March 16, 2017

KM: Describe a day in your life.

Ellie: A day of mine consists of bird watching, eating, napping, playing with Pippa and napping more.

Pippa: I like to wake mom up early and have a cuddle session, then eat some, nap, play with sister Ellie and nap, nap, nap til the humans come home.

KM: Your human has returned home from a very long day of running errands. How do you greet her? 

Ellie: When I hear the key rattle in the door, I run to meet her at the door, usually laying sprawled out on the rug where she has to walk. Then I will give welcome home rubs on her legs.

Pippa: I’m usually napping in the window seat when she gets home and she wakes me up being all noisy. I meow my squeaky quack meow and want to be picked up and want to be majorly loved on for about 5 minutes before I am finished and want food.

KM: What kind of food do you both like?

Ellie: I have expensive taste. I will only eat the “real” wet stuff like tuna or salmon, usually made by Wellness or Applaws. I can’t help it I’m spoiled, my mother made me that way, hehee. But the rest of the time Pippa and I both eat dry food by Blue Wilderness.

Pippa: I LOVE tuna! When I first came home, I didn’t want to eat so I lost a bunch of weight. My grandmeowther got me some super smelly cheap food and I ate it up. But now, I like the good stuff that Ellie eats but I like Friskies too.

KM: Do you have a favourite toy?

Ellie: I really enjoy playing with my catnip banana but the laser pointer is “my precious”.

Pippa: I really like the laser pointer too, but I will play with anything! Especially yarn!

KM: You girls are very beautiful. How would you describe your sense of style? 

Ellie: My mom calls me a meowdel, I am a girly cat and I wear clothes sometimes. When Pippa messes up my hair when we play, I get mad at her.

Pippa: My mom says I’m a tomboy. I don’t like wear clothes, I hates it. I am very messy, especially when I eat. I throw food all around. She also says I need to take lessons on how to be a girl from Ellie, ugh.

KM: What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

Ellie: I have only been up close to one dog, I didn’t like it but I sat real still. Pippa is the only other cat I’ve been around since I left the shelter.

Pippa: I HATE dogs. The one that Ellie saw, I saw too. It came way too close to me so I swiped its nose and cut it. Ellie is the only cat I’ve been around since the shelter also, but I like her. She licks me on the head but she will deny it.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be? 

E & P: For mom to be able to stay home all day and never have to go to work.

KM: Ellie & Pippa, do you have any special skills? 

Ellie: I can jump super high, it always impresses mom how high and far I can leap.

Pippa: I have a very good purring motor. Does that count?

KM: Wow, those are some amazing skills! So, tell me guys, what do you value most in life?

Ellie: I like my heated bed, it’s very special to me. My mom got it for me after I “got fixed”.

Pippa: I think my home is important to me now, cause I didn’t have one before. And my family.

KM: How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

E & P: We are not a real political family. My mom votes for whoever she thinks is best so we kind of agree with her. So we would totally vote for a politician cat!! Male or female, we should make our meows heard.

KM: Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/don’t like about social media?

E & P: We have made several good friends on Instagram! I like that part of it and also seeing pictures and videos of other pretty kitties. I don’t like it when there are mean or rude comments posted as a response to a picture or video. We haven’t had that happen to us, but have seen it happen to others. If you don’t like something mom says keep your opinion to yourself.

KM: Do either of you have a special someone in your life?

Neither of us have anyone special but we are both taking applications for suitable gentlemen cats!

KM: I’m sure you will have to fight off the attention of many handsome gentleman cats soon!! What is your dream date?

Ellie: My dream date would be going to a seafood restaurant and ordering a plate of tuna with extra juice, then taking a nap, then go partying for most of the night before crashing to sleep again.

Pippa: My dream date? I’m not in a dating mood right now and would rather just stay home and sleep on mom’s lap while she watches TV or crochets.

KM: What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

Ellie: I would like to be a professional meowdel, I do a really great runway walk!

Pippa: I wish to not be so scared every time I hear a noise I don’t know. Other than that, I think I’m pretty content with the right now.

KM: Do you have anything else you would like to say?

Today we are chatting with the charismatic Rocket in this new edition of ‘Katdid Konversations’

Rocket Richard Rapson will be turning 15 years old on June 1! He lives just outside of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Here is a fun fact! Rocket was actually named after the Great Canadian hockey player, Maurice “Rocket” Richard.

KM: Thanks for joining me today, Rocket! Let’s start by talking about how you found your human?

R: I was a feral farm kitten in Smithville, Ontario and a lady my mom knows gave me to her and the rest is history. I was born in 2002.

KM: Describe a day in your life.

R: I need to have my breakfast by 6.30am sharp and my morning Insulin needle. I have a tight napping schedule I try to keep. Then I sleep all day. I’m happy when mom comes home from work because we play and then I nap more. She sometimes lets me meowdel yarn or knitting. I love to bother her when she reads. I have my evening Insulin needle and some treats at about 7pm and then we just hang out until bedtime. I do have a problem with getting the zoomies in the middle of the night and skidding all over the hardwood floors. Sometimes I’m so loud my Poppy gets up and takes my toys until the morning. I guess he doesn’t like me playing under his bed in the middle of the night.  We live with mom’s parents at the moment. Mom is trying to find a condo for us to buy.

KM: You have a busy schedule to keep up with! So if your human returns home after a very long day of running errands, how do you greet her?

R: Depends on my mood. sometimes I sit and greet her at the door, sometimes I make her hunt for me.

KM: What kind of food do you like?

R: Friskies Salmon Pate, Crunchies, Lickem sticks and Greenies.  I’m not really into human food because I need to watch my sugars but OMG have you ever tried yogurt?  I could bathe in that stuff. Peach is my fave.

KM: I’ve never tried yogurt! It sounds delicious! Do you have a favourite toy?

R: Fluffballs with tinfoil

KM: I know you enjoy wearing bandannas and you look great in them! How would you describe your sense of style?

R: Kooky but laid back.  I love meowdeling yarn, nice soft yarn. When you’re tired, you can use it as a pillow.

KM: You have given me something to think about! I must get Mama to buy me yarn! Sounds like so much fun! Tell me Rocket, what are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

R: When mom was married a long time ago, her husband had a dog. We got along ok. Now when I know a dog is around, I just hide. I don’t like it when they chase me.  I mostly get along with other cats. Birds are fun to watch.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

R: That I live for a long time.

KM: I wish that too! So we can be with our mommies forever! Do you have any special skills, Rocket?

R: I am very stealthy. I like to slink around. I’m also good at getting yogurt cups stuck on my face. I love playing hide and seek, I excel at the hiding part. I can fall asleep while hiding!

KM: Whoa! So many interesting skills! That’s awesome. So let’s get a bit serious. What do you value most in life?

R: Right now, getting my insulin is important to me because it keeps me alive. Also spreading the awareness of special needs cats is very important to me. People were mean to my mom when they found out I was diabetic. They said I shouldn’t suffer and had best be put down. Mom would never do that. I have been diabetic since Easter of 2013 and have never had any issues. I have been very lucky. Mom takes great care of me.

KM: Yes, I see your mom loves you very much! Do you follow politics, Rocket? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

R: Kitty Mojito for President! Or in our case (because we are both Canadian kitties) Kitty Mojito for Prime Minister!!

KM: Ha Ha! You are so sweet! Do you think I will have a chance against Mr. Trudeau? LOL. Anyway, let’s talk about Instagram and other social media. We became furriends on IG. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?

R: I like social media because I’m kind of a shy guy.  There are a lot of cats I have made friends with from all over the world.  It’s making me less shy.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

R: I’ve never had a girlfriend. There are lots of pretty ladies on IG though. A couple have caught my eye.

KM: Ooohh, I think you should go ahead and talk to those pretty ladies! What is your dream date?

R: Something fun.  A fall fair, ice skating or some tunatinis on the catio. Share some yoghurt or fish tacos.

KM: What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

R: Letting more people pet me. Usually only mom, her niece and 2 nephews can pet me. I did let her brother pet me the other day. That’s only happened twice in 15 years.

R: I would really love to learn how to Meow. Mom said they forgot to give me a meower when I was born. Do you know anyone that gives lessons?  I’ve got Skype.

Today I am talking to the handsome and funny Nicodemus von Wittykitty. He is 4 years old and hails from Warwick, RI, USA.

KM: So Nico, let’s start from the beginning. How did you come to find your human?

NICO: Me mama kitty was stray kitty has no home. Person find. Mama kitty borned me, me sister Elladora kitty, me sister Luna kitty, and me brother Ezekiel kitty. Mama kitty not want baby kitties. Her stop feeding we when we was two week old! Her hiss at we and smack we! We was scared. We was hungry! Person has to feed we with bottle, and clean we, and make we go potty. Her take good care of we.

When we growed up, person find good home for mama kitty, and me sisters and me brother. Her keep me! (Person say me be smart kitty, so her pick me). 

KM: Can you describe a day in your life?

NICO: Me sleep lot. When warm, me sleep in window. When winter, me sleep under bed. When me not sleep, me like use computer watch movie with squirrel and birdies. Me do Facebook and Instagram make kitty friends. In winter, we has mousie in house!  Person name mousie “Clyde”. Clyde mousie hide under stove in kitchen. Person give me job watch Clyde mousie. So me has to watch Clyde mousie in night.

NICO: Person go? Where? When? Me not see go. Me be sleep. Maybe. 

KM: What kind of food do you like, Nico?

NICO: Me only eats food in bag. Me not like person food. Icky. Me not like food in can. Icky! Me not eat kitty “treat.” ICKY!

KM: That’s interesting. You have some unique taste! Let’s talk about toys. What is your favourite toy?

NICO: Oooo! Me favorite toy Santa Claws bring! It have feather tail. Spring body! Head is sparkly ball. Is BEST toy!

KM: There are many cats out there with some swanky outfits and accessories. How would you describe your sense of style?

NICO: All kitty have lot style. We has one outfit look good all time. Why persons need lot clothes?

KM: I know you have lots of kitty friends but I am curious, What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

NICO: Me not know doggies. Person have bunny name Dusty. Me think Dusty is kitty, but person say Dusty not kitty, is bunny. Dusty bunny look like kitty, but her have funny ears. Me think her not has tail, but her do. Is round like ball.  Me like watch Dusty bunny. Her not know how walk, so her hop. Me try teach Dusty bunny walk, but her not do. 

So me think bunny not smart like kitty. Maybe. Me like watch animals on TV and computer. Me see show with LION! Lion chase zebra (zebra like horse. Have stripes). Me watch baby giraffe be borned on computer, too. Is so exciting!

KM: You are a talented kitty. Do you have any special skills?

NICO: Lot! When there be fly in house, me chase and jump up catch with paws! In air! Then me eat fly. Eat fly tickle! Me can drink water with paw (this right way. Keep water clean).

Me know how play game on computer. Me ask Google kitty find game for kitty, and Google kitty find! Is fun!

Me likes music. Me play air guitar. Me also learn air piano.

 

KM: What do you value most in life?

NICO: Me so happy has good home. Person love me give me snuggles. Is warm. Has good food. Me has lot comfy place sleep. Me wish all kitty have this things. Me sad see kitty not has home.

KM: How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

NICO: What be “politics”? Is there be mousies in “office” place? If there be mousies, “office” need kitty watch. Me good watch mousies.

KM: Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like and don’t like about social media?

NICO: Me like make kitty friend. Me has kitty friend all over world! Is exciting. Me not like account follow me, then unfollow. Is make me sad. Person say is okay, me has lot kitty friend.

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life, Nico? If so, please tell us a bit about him/her.

NICO: Me has girl kitty! Her name be Sansa kitty. Sansa kitty most beautiful kitty in world! Her have white fur, and one eye blue, other eye green! Is so pretty. Sansa kitty have lot toes! More toes than other kitty. Me meet Sansa kitty on Instagram. Me flirt Sansa kitty, then her say her be me girl kitty. Me so happy!

KM: I think a lot of girl cats will be disappointed to know you are already taken! What is your dream date?

NICO: Me just want snuggle Sansa kitty. We not has go place. Snuggle good. Me let Sansa kitty play with me best toy. Maybe.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

NICO: Me wants to grow up be LION. Me practice ROAR. If me be lion, me chase zebra! 

Person have garden grow plant in house. Garden have special light make plant grow BIG. So, me think me nap by light me grow big – like LION! Me nap by light, but me not grow big like lion. Me think light not work make kitty grow big. Only plant.

NICO: Me smart kitty. Me want teach other kitty be smart like me. But not teach bunny. Bunny not smart like kitty.

Franklin is a 3 year old mini panther from Brooklyn, New York. He holds a very important position in the Cats of Instagram community. He is a leader, activist, great party planner and was recently awarded the ‘Cat of the Year’ award for all his wonderful contributions to the COI community.

KM: Franklin, I know you share an extra special bond with your mom. Imagine that your mom has returned home from a very long day of running errands. How do you greet her?

 

LF: F Eye yam ah wakes, Eye charges like a lit tulle bull down de long hall weigh to de door with mi ice gleamin like head lites to say high to mi moms and/or daddy. Eye ain’t vary subtle oar withholding wen it come to showin mi luv.
 

KM: What kind of food do you like, Franklin?

LF: Eye yam a Paul tree man (Turk key, duck, chick kin: nom, nom, & nom!), butt ewe nose wut day say ah bout tune ah: it de chick kin of de see.

KM: Do you have a favourite toy?

LF: Mi stuff mouseys Goldie & Violet, & all sew mi stuff dino sore Dinah dat mi kat bro Jude gave to mee a phew months ah go.

 

KM: Franklin, I have known you for awhile now and you have a unique and wonderful personality. How would you describe your sense of style?

LM: Eye purrfur go win “aw nah chore all” (i.e., nakey) most of de thyme, butt fur pawties on Instagram, Eye likes mi old-skool top hat & red bow tie, & Eye jest gots an old-skool straw boater fur de warmer whether. F Eye wore pants, Eye wood wanna wear suss pend doors. Eye likes to keeps it reel butt all sew keeps it classy, & wut evah type of appurrel whee talkin ah bout, day jest don’t makes it as good as day used to. On a re lay Ted note, Eye luvs give van mi shaw tea tiaras & neck laces on Instagram dat looks like day B long in a meowseum.

 

KM: What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

LF: Dawgs most Lee kneads to B re ha bill ah Tate Ted & taut dat day don’t kneads to dew tricks fur dare treats. LF: (Blushing beneath fur coat) Eye gots a spesh shell Jung lady kat name Ruby hoo Eye bin courtin cents last August, wen Eye puts out an APB to finds a date fur de Instagram pet prom & Ruby’s moms let her go with mee. Fur mee, it wuz luv at furst site. Ruby a beauty full, petite mini panther, with ice like two golden son flours, & she sew full of spear it & fun. Dare no language barrier fur us E van tho shee German & Eye rite in old-skool Catonese. Plus, as Ruby show mee on hour vary furst date wen Eye tooks her out fur a spin on de dance floor, shee throw down like ewe wood knot B leave! Ruby under stood mee rite off de bat: Eye yam a vary complex man kat. Butt whee tooks it kinda slow at furst & went on jest a phew dates (neither of us were pawty katz at dat thyme).
