Review – NHV Naturals Multi Essentials For Cats

I came across NHV Naturals via Instagram. At that time, I wasn’t really looking to add any supplements to Kitty’s health regime but I kept it in mind in case I needed to look into it.

NHV MULTI ESSENTIALS digestive aid and energy support for cats and dogs

Well, the need came sooner than later when Kitty started to get sick. If you read my previous blog post, you would know that Kitty had some stomach issues and was throwing up frequently. After visiting the vet and learning that there isn’t really anything wrong with her, I did some research and reached out to the lovely people at NHV Naturals to see if they can provide me some tips to help her tummy.

I must say I was very impressed with the time they took to chat with me about Kitty’s condition, her symptoms, etc to try to figure out what is causing her to throw up.  After a lot of discussion, I decided to add the Multi Essentials to her diet.

Multi Essentials for Cats is a herbal multi vitamin, digestive and energy booster. According to their website, it helps in the following ways;

  • Stimulates metabolism
  • Promotes healthy skin and coat
  • Aids effective digestion
  • Reduces fatigue and increases energy levels
  • Helps fill nutritional voids

One of the reasons I picked this product is that last point ‘filling nutritional voids’. I was concerned that Kitty was not retaining any nutrition from her food because she was throwing it up.

Once I got my order in, I was instructed to introduce it slowly. I started with a few drops twice a day. After a few days, I increased it to 0.25ml.  Once Kitty got accustomed to it (which took about a week), I began the recommended dosage of 0.5ml twice a day.

I found the dropper bottle easy to use as the dosage amount is already marked on it so there is no guess work.

As a serial label reader, I was happy to learn that the supplements are made with natural ingredients and no artificial flavours or preservatives are used. One bottle would last about a 100 days.

I suppose the biggest test is to see how she responded to it. I started the supplements on the 24th of October 2017. She took to it fairly easily. For an entire month, she didn’t have throw up incidents. I believe this was a combination of her new food, limited treats and the supplements.

I was really happy to with how things were going with her. She was eating well and her skin and coat was looking better than ever (side note: She did have some dry skin which has now cleared up!)

To end this review, I would encourage every cat parent to look into adding Multi Essentials to their cat’s diet. It will provide great support to your cat’s overall health. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure you give the supplements AFTER meals. Kitty had a couple of throw up incidents a few days ago so I am now mixing the supplements with her wet food to help her digest it better.

For more information on a variety of supplements, please check out www.nhvnaturalpetproducts.com.

(This is an independent review based on my own experience with this product which was purchased for Kitty Mojito’s use. It was in no way influenced or sponsored by the company mentioned)

When Your Cat Gets Sick – Are You Ever Ready For It?

Several months ago, Kitty started throwing up her food. It started out as an occasional thing but soon progressed to a daily occurrence. I was very worried! Eventually, once a day turned into several times a day. A vet appointment was quickly made. Upon taking a closer look at her throw up, I could see that it was mostly undigested food. She would start to hack, then throw up the food and continue to puke until there is just bile and sometimes blood. I tried everything to help her little tummy, from feeding her small portions to making her dry food moist. I gave her chicken broth, pumpkin puree and limited ingredient food but nothing helped.

Once I got her to the vet, it helped that I had kept track of when and how much she had thrown up and any behavioral changes so I was able to provide the vet with details of what had happened. We talked about the reasons why cats throw up such eating too fast  and food intolerance to more serious conditions such as kidney issues and infections. After further discussion and a physical examination, it was evident that Kitty was physically in good health. There were no visible issues nor has she displayed any behavioural changes. I was given the option to do further testing to which I gladly agreed. I wanted to get to the bottom of this so Kitty was taken away for blood work and x-rays.

I was eager to know the results.  The x-rays turned out to be normal (such a relief!) and I was told that I will be informed of the blood results the next day. They also sent in for additional set of blood work to test her pancreas. It was a long 24 hour wait but it was worth it as the news was good! ALL her blood work was normal! Hurray! Even though it cost over $425 for all the testing, it was worth the peace of mind.

In the meantime, the vet had suggested looking into switching her food into a gastro – friendly vet food. I was not too thrilled about pursuing that path so I did a bit of research to find something that could provide some relief for sensitive stomachs. I found that Halo pet food had a blend for sensitive stomach (Halo Food). The kibble was much smaller than usual kibble so it could help Kitty chew it better. I also found a food tree from Catit (Food Tree) which I figured would help slow down her eating.  As I slowly transitioned her to her new food and food tree (it took her a good week or so to get used to it!), I was fortunate enough to connect with a company called NHV Natural Products. They helped me figure out what I could add to Kitty’s diet to help her get more nutrients. I purchased their Multi Essentials For Cats. I also stopped giving her assorted treats and only give her a couple of freeze dried salmon or Greenies occasionally.

Fast forward several weeks, I am so happy to say that she hasn’t thrown up since the end of October. She has been enjoying the Halo food. To keep things consistent, I have also gotten her on the Halo wet food. She takes 0.5ml of the multi vitamin drops twice a day which has helped her greatly.

Having to deal with this situation only reiterated the fact that it is so important to know your pets. Paying attention to their habits and routine will really help you in times like this. Also, please get pet insurance! Even though the vet visit and testing  was only $425, insurance covered 90% of the testing (THANK YOU, TRUPANION!). I had to pay a little over $200 (the deductible of $100 and the examination fee).

Review – Weruva BFF (OMG-Oh My Gravy!)

I’m so excited to be given this opportunity to try this brand new product from one of my favourite pet food companies, Wevuva!

20170822_102208.jpg

20170822_101000

Before I found Weruva, I have tried so many different brands and types of wet food with not much luck. One thing I did find out is that Kitty Mojito loves gravy based food! So my mission was to find her the best quality wet food out there and I found that in the B.F.F line!!

I learned about the Big 3 by partnering with Weruva (www.weruva.com)– a luxurious, natural pet food dubbed “people food for cats” who just launched a full line of gluten, grain, and carrageenan-free cat food in honor of International Cat Day. It’s called B.F.F. OMG! (that stands for Best Feline Friend, Oh My Gravy), and it’s all about preventing these Big 3 Cat Concerns ; picky eating, weight gain, and urinary tract issues.

There are so many yummy flavours to choose from!!

20170822_10141120170822_10140320170822_101335

With International Cat Day that happened on August 8 and Happy Healthy Cat Month coming in September, now is the perfect time to address the ‘cat in the room’—and that’s your feline friend’s diet.

Here are some useful nutritional information that I learnt from Weruva!

Keep these in mind when it comes to our feline’s food!

If your cat has any of these, you might want to consider changing their diet:

>> Is your cat picky? Picky eating is usually a problem with texture, since cats are carnivores whose tongues and teeth are perfectly evolved for meat-eating. It’s easy to see why a cat might dislike something without real shreds of meat—would you eat a steak with the texture of tapioca? Weruva’s food features these shreds of real meat right off the bone, which is why Kitty Mojito took to it like a duck to water (or a cat to gravy)!

>> Got a fat cat? The problem is in the kibble. It’s filled with unnecessary carbs, which are almost impossible for cats to process (they don’t produce amylase, an enzyme which helps humans digest their food). Weruva’s B.F.F. OMG! has no kibble to worry about because it’s 100% real meats in their true form.
.
>> UT-why? Urinary tract issues often stem from dehydration—even if you’re giving your cat plenty of water. In the wild, cats stay hydrated through the food they eat instead of what they drink. Cats are used to ‘eating’ their water—but most wet foods don’t have nearly enough hydration to keep them satisfied. All of the products in Weruva’s B.F.F. OMG! line are over 85% hydration, which satisfies Kitty’s hydration needs.

I love Weruva because they are considered ‘people food for pets.’ The new line of B.F.F. OMG! cans and pouches feature land proteins like boneless and skinless white chicken breast, salmon, beef, duck, lamb and more. All recipes are grain, gluten, and carrageenan free. And if you are a BPA-free home, check out the pouches because they are BPA-free. Best of all, my kitty loves it!

(PS: Carrageenan is a thickener and emulsifier made from seaweed, that while natural, induces gastric inflammation when processed by the intestinal tract in isolation from its natural state)

20170822_10183120170822_10184020170822_101844

I am a very fussy pet mom who spends a lot of time researching pet food and reading labels at the pet stores. It is very important to me that my pet eats quality food. It could cost $0.50 a can or $3 a can, all that matters to me is that the list of ingredients are filled with the nutrients that Kitty actually needs.

Of course, the taste test is the most crucial. Kitty just gobbled up the BFF OMG as soon as I put it in her bowl! Her favourite so far is the ‘CRAZY 4 U’ chicken and salmon in gravy and ‘DATE NIGHT’ which is duck and salmon in gravy!

As I shared about this on Kitty’s Instagram (@kittymojito), I have had several requests to let readers know about the actual texture and consistency of the products as well as how Kitty reacted to it.

Here are my thoughts (along with Kitty’s great taste testing skills!) on some of the flavours we tried!

Product: SEEYA SOONER – Chicken and Tuna dinner in gravy

Verdict: The consistency was great. It was quite runny so it’s wonderful for kitties that love gravy based food. You can still see some chunks of meat in there and the first few ingredients are chicken broth, chicken and tuna. I reduced the dry food and gave her this entire pouch in a feeding. Two paws up for this one!

PRODUCT: CIAO BABY – Chicken and Shrimp dinner in gravy

Verdict: This was an instant hit as the combination of chicken broth, chicken, tuna and shrimp was a definite winner. Like the previous flavour, you will find it has a very generous gravy base so it is very easily licked up.

PRODUCT: PURR-FECT PLANNING – Chicken, Turkey and Salmon dinner in gravy

VERDICT:  Turkey is not a favourite with Kitty. It’s a hit and miss. However, she really loved this one. It could be the fact that there was salmon in it but she ate it up in no time.

PRODUCT: LOVE MUNCHKIN – Chicken and Pumpkin dinner in gravy

VERDICT: Another favourite! I love to add pumpkin to Kitty’s food when I can because I find that it really helps with her digestive issues. It keeps her eliminations regular and normal.

In conclusion, I would like to say that I will continue to feed Weruva BFF Oh My Gravy line to Kitty as it is, by far, one of the best wet foods that I have come across. This is a great line of food for kitties that have trouble chewing as the gravy makes everything soft and palpable as well as for any kitties that prefer a more liquid consistency to pate!

Kitty and I give it two thumbs (and paws) up!

Please visit www.weruva.com to learn more about these amazing food items and to find out where you can get your hands on some of it!

Katdid Konversation With Sugar

Another great edition of Katdid Konversations is ready to kick off!

Today I have with me the most adorable Sugar, a 6 month old kitty from Ogden!

IMG_4441

KM: Welcome to the show Sugar! I am delighted to have you here with me today. Tell us, how did you come to find your human?

S: I thought I had a forever home, but it was not so. I was kept in a room by myself, I ate by myself when they remembered to feed me and finally they surrendered me to the local shelter where I was put up for adoption. I saw my mama walk by and started meowing. She smelled so sweet and was so kind. She played with me and then walked away! I was sad! Then she came back…. she called the lady and said she wanted me out of there and in her home by Wednesday.

KM: That’s wonderful! Now that you are in your home, what does a typical day in your life look like?

S: I have two drool beasts, Gunner and Archer – but they are very kind and polite.  My fur brother and sister, Clyde Barrow and Bonnie are great too! We all run meowing to mama. If Cat Daddy is home, he calls me baby kitty, picks me up and he carries me around in his arms. He pulls a chair close to the counter and gives me a tablespoon of tuna.  Then we start to play. Bonnie and I run up and down the stairs, in and out of rooms. Then we nap for hours and do this over again.  Mama spends several hours just playing with us and grooming us. She loves the three of us. I love when she picks me up, cuddles me close and calls me her little Sugar Princess.

KM: What a terrific family you have, Sugar! So when your Mama or Cat Daddy comes home from a very long day of running errands, how do you greet them?

S: I come running out meowing and sitting up so that they will pick me up.

KM: What kind of food do you like?

S: I like tuna, Sheba fillets, fresh water from the fountain and Sheba stix.

KM: I am going to guess that you love playing with many toys! Which one is your favourite?

S: I love my cat nip banana (my tummy never tickled so much!)! My stick with crinkly balls, bells and feathers.  Oh and my butterfly!

KM: I love the catnip banana too! I call in the iBanana! How would you describe your sense of style?

S: I am a mini princess. Mama is helping me choose my first summer outfits.

KM: I’m looking forward to seeing you in your summer attire! I’m sure you will look fabulous! What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

S: I’m ok with Gunner and Archer but no other.

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

S: That all the kitties that need homes find homes.I didn’t know how unhappy I was until Mama moved me to her house. She gave me space but made it clear I was loved.

KM: Do you have any special skills?

S: I am very fast and I can jump high! Very high!

KM: Whoa! You must get mama to take a video of you doing your high jumps! What things are most important to you now?

S: My Mama, Cat Daddy, Bonnie & Clyde. I also love my beautiful pink collar with a bow and purple name plate “Sugar”.

IMG_4436

KM: Sugar, what do you think about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

S: I think we need more cats coming together and letting their voices be heard. It’s good to have role models but we all must use our meow.

KM: I totally agree with you! We must all stick together! Now Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/don’t like about social media?

S: I haven’t had to much exposure yet but mama and Bonnie and Clyde say they have met some wonderful friends, had their hearts broken and their faith restored.  I look forward to meeting everyone!

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

S: My mama and Cat Daddy

KM: Aww that is so cute! Your Mama and Cat Daddy must be soo wonderful! What is your dream date?

S: What’s a date?

KM: Oh I am so sorry! You are still some time away from dating I guess. What would you like to accomplish in the near future?

S: Meet new furriends!

KM: You will be meeting many friends soon Sugar! Do you have anything else you would like to say?

S: Thank you taking an interest in me.

KM: It was my pleasure Sugar! Welcome to the Cats Of Instagram family!

There you have it folks, it’s time to bid adieu. Tune in next Sunday for another edition of Katdid Konversations!

Katdid Konversation With Augustus

Good morning everypawdy!

Welcome to another edition of your favourite talk show ‘Katdid Konversations’

I am your host, Kitty Mojito

Today we are chatting with Augustus, a stylish stud from Montrose, Colorado!

He is 8 months old and is quite a fashion forward dude!

gus2

KM: Thanks for joining me today Gus! Let’s start by chatting a bit about your history. Tell me about how you found your human.

A:  At only five months old, my identical twin brother and I were abandoned at our local animal shelter by abusive and careless humans. We were underfed and as anxious as ever, but the people at the shelter were kind and offered us lots of love. For three weeks, we sat in separate cages, subject to the meows and screams of other kitties in the same situation. Strangers visited daily, always cooing at us and jabbing their fingers through the wires. Not once did any of these visitors take me out of my cage like they did with everyone else. The only pets and cuddles I received were from the animal shelter’s staff. They tried so hard to make me feel comfortable, but I always curled up in the back of my cage, hiding behind a sea of blankets and my litter box. One day, January 29th as I’m told, two humans came to my rescue. Both of them remained calm as they examined me. There were no unwanted fingers poking at me, but instead a click of the cage door being open. I decided to arise from the shadows and cautiously stepped towards them. Patiently, they allowed me to sniff their fingers, before one of them gently picked me up. She spoke softly, “He’s perfect. We have to adopt him.” And that was it. In less than thirty minutes I was walking on unknown carpet in an unfamiliar apartment, exploring the possibilities. This was home.

KM: That is such a wonderful story! I am so glad you found them! Now that you found your forever home, describe what a typical day in your life looks like.

A:  Most of my days start at 4:00 am, awoken by one of my humans mysteriously disappearing to this place called “work”. My eyes are always cloudy with sleep, disgruntled and disturbed by the early morning excitement. Mom doesn’t get out of bed despite my efforts to convince her otherwise. I strut around the living room chirping and meowing to get her attention, not because I’m hungry, but because I want to show her things; I want her to watch the sunrise with me. My tactics only become more intense once I realize she’s not getting up. I race from room to room, gripping the carpet and crashing into everything. Suddenly she’s awake, scrambling to grab me and take me back to bed. We snuggle up under the covers and I receive pets and scratches causing a series of purrs. Eventually she falls asleep and my eyes grow heavy. She wins…this time. By 9:00 am I’m practicing my shenanigans again, bringing all my favorite toys to the bed and attacking them vigorously. Two or three human sighs later I’m at last fed. Dry food, grain free salmon, my all time favorite, and a healthy dose of fresh water. After breakfast is the morning poop, timed perfectly to correspond with my human’s shower so that I stink up the bathroom, encouraging her to hurry it along. I lie on her pile of new clothes, keeping them warm for when she gets out. Next stop: lounging on the couch, and enjoying some lovely head scratches while we watch tv. At noon, Dad is home and psyched to see us. I no longer need to protect Mom, leaving my morning duties to do my daily bird watching. The windowsill is warm with sunlight and there’s always something new to see outside. Within the next hour I chirp and chatter at birds, before a bandana is slung over my head and a harness is buckled across my chest. The three of us head outside and it’s time to explore the grasses. I sniff a few dandelions and munch on some leaves. Without hesitation, I claw my way up my favorite tree and plop down to observe my surroundings. I do my best to model while Mom snaps some pictures, then we stroll around the block, avoiding the kitties who don’t like me too much. Back at home, we settle on a movie and while my humans are preoccupied with this entertainment, I stir up some trouble. I hop on the bar and shove foreign objects off. Everything belongs on the floor, including me since I have this condition called “litter box feet”. I leap down, grabbing my contraband and scurrying to the bathroom. Once there, I hide my stash under the rug, and flee, hoping no one has noticed my absence. I busy the humans by hunting my toys, wiggling my booty and pouncing on the unsuspecting victims. After a while of this, I’m pooped and ready for an afternoon nap. Hours later I’m awoken by the feeling of hunger. Dinner time! It’s always wet food and always a surprise, never chicken but always a fishy choice. Gobbling down each and every morsel, I lick my bowl clean. Then it’s on to washing my face, paws and butt. Back in the window, next the box, another nap, a tumble with my sheep, and all of a sudden this thing called “bedtime” occurs. Bedtime for me means a chance at playing on the counters, booping the plants and attempting to scale the cabinets. When this gets boring , it’s time to attack the litter box and make a huge ruckus, get in the bathtub and pull out drain and scarf down the last of my water. Off to sleep I am, cuddling in between my humans and dozing straight into dream land.

Gus1

KM: Wow! Your days are full of so many fun times! I can tell that you live every day to the fullest! What kind of food do you like the most?

A: Nutrisca’s Tuna and Crab grain free wet food, Under the Sun’s grain free Salmon dry food, and Merrick’s Rabbit Cuts pouches

KM: What is your favourite toy?

A: My yellow lamb named Blep

KM: You are seen sporting some pretty fine bandannas. How would you describe your sense of style?

A: Trendy with a hint of adventure and spunk

KM: What are your thoughts on dogs and other animals?

A: Dogs shall not be trusted, they bow down to humans and they sniff lots of butts. I’m also not fond of other cats or strangers whether they be humans or not. I love bugs though!

KM: If you could make one wish, what would it be?

A: To help all other animal shelter kitties like me find their forever families.

KM: That’s a very noble wish! I wish for the same! So tell me Gus, do you have any special skills?

A: Communication! I constantly communicate with my humans by meowing or chirping when they ask me questions. I also help my humans paint, sew and do puzzles. I’m an expert in booping, escaping harnesses, parkour, and hiding.

gus4

KM: So many amazing skills! What things are most important to you now?

A: My humans are beyond important to me. I hate seeing them upset or sick and I always attempt to comfort them and make them feel better. They are my heroes and I love them. Adoption in animal shelters is also very dear to me as I believe every animal deserves a chance at having a family.

KM: That is so true Gus! I wish that everyone will adopt a shelter pet and take care of them forever! How do you feel about cats in politics? Do you think we need fair representation in office?

A: I never see any kitties in politics! Let’s elect one of our own into office! There is no representation of our kind and we deserve a voice!

KM: Most definitely. You should get in touch with Mr. Derpurrez @little_franklin! He is very active in the political scene! Now Instagram is a great place to make friends. What do you like/ don’t like about social media?

A: I love connecting with kitties and their humans through Instagram. I’ve forged tons of new friendships with social media. The downside is that I don’t have enough time to connect with EVERYONE like I’d like to.

gus3

KM: Do you have a special someone in your life?

A:  There’s a little orange kitty that lives in the apartment right above us! I always see her in the window when we’re out on walks. She is very beautiful! We’re a thing, she just doesn’t know it yet!

KM: That is so cute! I hope we get to hear more about her soon! What is your dream date?

A: Sprawling out in the grass, dining on fine tuna and drinking the purest of water whilst planning the future.

KM: Oh My! Aren’t you a romantic? 🙂 So what would you like to accomplish in the near future?

A:  I’d love to raise awareness on the benefits of adopting even more and aide in finding homes for the strays out there. If anything I’d love to make more new friends and create more bonds.

KM: Gus, thank you so much for joining me today. You are such a unique and wonderful kitty and I wish you all the very best!

Sleepy Time Routines!

We all have some sort of routine before bed right? Sometimes its a soothing cup of tea or a cookie or maybe it’s a beauty routine. Either way, we all spend a few minutes before bed doing something to get us relaxed and ease into a blissful night of sleep.

Have you even know for a cat to have a sleep routine? Well, let me tell you about Kitty Mojito and her daily night-time routine. She has two routines, one for when Daddy works night shifts and it’s just me and her. And the other for when both of us are at home.

Let me start with the one where we are both home at night.

When we sit down for dinner, Kitty joins us. No matter how early I put out her food, she will not eat until she sees us eating. I find this just adorable. When dinner is done and everything is cleaned up, we get ready for bed. For Kitty, this means dragging out her noisiest toy and positioning it just outside our bedroom door.

Fast forward, we are both in bed, lights are off, time for sleep…… And right on cue…. here come Kitty with her noisy toy…. she throws it around a few times…she waits for a response. If we say anything, the thrashing about continues. If we stay quiet, she starts her nightly singing… Mew, meow…..meoooooooooow…..

It goes on for a good ten minutes or so. If she can’t get our attention with the singing, she proceeds to jumping on the bed and doing a walkabout. Usually this includes walking on the pillows and all over us. She will also try knocking things over in order to get our attention. If neither of us wakes up and shoos her out, she will eventually curl up by the edge of the bed and go to sleep.

Scenario 2 – Daddy is not home ……

During the nights that Daddy is working, things are a bit more quiet. Kitty loves to play with Daddy so she is always excited when he is at home. When he is at work, she is a bit more subdued. So the nightly routine gets taken down a notch.

It goes like this …..

Once I get ready for bed. I announce ‘ Kitty! Bedtime!’

She will usually follow me…She jumps around on the bed. Yay! It’s playtime! She attacks my feet … Jump, jump, jump….. Let’s play Mama!

I turn off the night light. Ok , now she knows that it’s quiet time. She does try to get my attention but eventually she will just curl up on Daddy’s side and sleep. Fast forward a few hours, usually between 4-5am, she will wake up and run around a bit, she will try to bite my feet by crawling under the covers. I have to calm her down and then encourage her to go back to sleep. This is the ONLY time she will sleep UNDER the covers. And she will stay under the covers until I wake up in the morning.

Having read this, you may think ‘ Hey that’s not a routine, it’s just something cats do!’ And I say to you, this IS a routine because she does this like clockwork, everything in the same order, at the same time, day in and day out 🙂 It’s just so amazing!

Animals are very intuitive and are smarter than we give them credit!

Kitty Turns 5!

While April 1st is known for ‘April Fools Day’, it is also known as Kitty Mojito’s birthday!Yes, it is a big deal and this year, since we are not in our home to celebrate it as we do every year, Kitty had a great birthday up on the 28th floor of a downtown highrise!

Turning 5 in cat years in equivalent to around 34ish in human years. So I made an extra special banner, set out some party leis, got some cat wine (yes! there is such a thing!) and make a small cake with her canned food topped with her favourite freeze dried shrimp!

Here is Kitty checking out the décor and cake

The cake was simple and super easy!

And what’s a party without some wine! These lovely bottles are a creation by Pet Winery.

20170401_144839

After a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and hugs and kisses all around, Kitty dug into the yummy goodies.

And finally, the birthday girl decided to pose… Here she is wearing a lovely bandanna that was gifted to her by her best friends in Utah, Bonnie and Clyde. She also decided to try on the party leis!

The festivities didn’t end here. Her Instagram buddies flooded her with birthday wishes and we had a weekend long party on Instagram with her good buddies Timmy and Jimmy who threw a fabulous party. Check out the hashtag #timmyandjimmyandkittymojitoaprilfoolsbirthdaypawty

What did you wish for on your birthday, Kitty?
I wished to be a full time meowdel, Mama

That’s a great wish, Kitty! I will see what I can do to make that wish come true for you
Thanks Mama, do you really think I can be as famous as Nala and Grumpy cat?

Of course, Kitty. You are the sweetest kitty ever and everyone loves you already
Yes, I am very loveable aren’t I? Now can I get some extra shrimpies with dinner 😉 ?

Holiday Fundraisers

It’s been about a month since I opened the Etsy store and I am so glad to see it doing well.

The cat community of Instagram have really embraced all the products I have on there! The bandannas have been a big hit and the book and art work have been doing well too!! So amidst all this, I decided to continue my tradition of doing a holiday fundraiser!

If you remember, last year I did gift packs for several local rescues. This year my fundraising focused on two special kitties… One named Ollie and the other named Buddy.

I came to know about these two kitties through Instagram. Let me share about them!

Ollie is a little kitty who needed help to pay for a liver operation to fix a congenital defect. He has a GoFundme page set up so I decided to do a small fundraiser to contribute to that. I ended up raising about $25 towards this.

Buddy is a sweetheart who got hit by a car and ended up with a broken jaw and other severe injuries. His mama wanted to desperately save his life! This required lots of surgery and continuous vet visits! Of course, this means they need as much help with funding as possible so last weekend I held a 2 day fundraiser for Buddy. All sales made through the Etsy store was going to be donated to Buddy and I must say it was a great success! I ended up making about $120!

It made me and Kitty so happy to be able to do something good to help these two lovable cats and hopefully they both make a full recovery!

Visit To The Vet!

Well it’s that time of the year….. ! The dreaded visit to the vet!

In the past, although she isn’t too thrilled about being stuffed into a carrier and taken to the vet, Kitty hasn’t really put up too much of a fight…..

This year, it was actually a really enjoyable experience! PS. Kitty wants me to tell you that it was fun except for when the Doc used the bumstick!!!

Here is how our day went……

First, Kitty got all cosy in her stroller…… I love this stroller so much! Not only is it comfortable for Kitty, it saves me from getting a bad shoulder pain from carting the carrier around!

It was a beautiful day! We stopped to look at some butterflies and say hello to some doggies that passed by….

The walk up to the vet clinic was about 15 mins… Kitty was chilling out as she enjoyed the sights and sounds.

When we got there, she was so great! She patiently waited for Doc, didn’t fuss when she got the needle and held on to my hand when the dreaded bumstick  had to be used!

She was weighed, checked out and given some yummy treats by the Doc. She has a clean bill of health! Yay! We took a selfie to celebrate! LOL

And then we made our way to the pet store next door!

“What would you like, Kitty?” I asked her……

“Oh, that tuna snack looks good, Mama”she said….. We walked up the aisles and Kitty finally picked some treats….. She wanted to try something new…… So we picked up new flavours of Greenies and a new brand of wet food. Oh, and the bag of treats you see here is her gift from Doc!

And we started our walk back home!

Kitty had a little nap when we got back and then spent the rest of the day chilling out on the deck, snacking on her cat grass and enjoying the sunshine!

Do you have any interesting stories of when your kitties visited the vet?

You can comment here or email it to crazycatladycorner@yahoo.com.

Kitty and I would love to hear them!

Crazy Water Bucket Day!

You will never guess what happened to me?

OMG! It is just horrifying! Just awful!  …… Ok so I might be overreacting but it was definitely not something I want to experience again soon! It has happened to me before but I forget…

It all started when Daddy filled the big giant bucket in the water room….. Usually I like the water room…. I follow Mama in there all the time, I sit on the big water bucket and play with bubbles…. I drink out of the water pipe….. It was all good….

But yesterday, “I” was the target! I don’t know why!

Was it because I dug up my kitty grass and climbed into that pot…. Or maybe it’s because I rolled in that pile of dirt when Mama was sweeping the kitchen. But I am not dirty!!!

Daddy carried me and put me in the water! My paws were all wet ….. I started to freak out! I mean, who wouldn’t! I don’t know how they spend so much time in the water…… it is so wet and slimy……eek!

I tried to stay still …….. But I just wanted to get out!

Daddy told me to stay calm and I will be nice and clean soon…… Then, he started to pour water on me! He made sure to keep my ears dry though…. He wiped my head with care… We, cats, have very sensitive ears so you must be careful not to let water get in them…. Daddy is a smart hooman…. He knows these things…

I know I look very brave here but I was scared on the inside!

Then Daddy put some strange foamy thing on me….. He kept rubbing it all over me…. He said it will help me with the itching….. It did feel nice but ‘get me out of this water’!!!

Mama was sitting by me the whole time…. I kept looking at her, hoping she will let me out of this hellhole but she kept saying ‘It’s ok baby, you will feel better soon’.

I trust Mama… I stayed…

I like this picture… Look at my moves! Looks like I am trying to hold the water…..

It felt like forever ……I tried to get out many times…. But I couldn’t! Water, Foam, Water, Foam! Rubbing, Scrubbing……. It went on forever!

Finally, Daddy took me out! I was soaked to the bone, I was angry and annoyed! But Daddy wrapped me in this big, soft cloth and dried off all the water…. I felt less angry…

Mama gave me kisses and told me what a good girl I was! Her hugs made me feel better…

After all that excitement, I had to spend hours drying off!

I must admit, it felt really nice…. I felt fresh and clean….. Mama said I smelt so good…. The bonus was I got extra treats for being a good girl:) There is always a silver lining!
